NOTE: The sharp side of the snap ring should be
facing outward.
NOTE: Once the gears are secured, remove the oil
passage plug from the crankcase.
3. Install the two starter gear shafts; then install the two
starter gears (with the beveled side of the intermedi-
ate gear facing inward as noted in removing).

4. In order on the crankshaft, install a washer, ring gear,
key, and the magneto rotor. Secure with the nut.
Tighten to 107 ft-lb.

5. Install the thrust washer and shift cam plate onto the
shift cam shaft; then coat the cap screw threads with
red Loctite #271 and tighten securely.
