Overview

This document is a Use and Maintenance Manual for the DWi60 dishwasher. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's function, installation, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The DWi60 is a household dishwasher designed for washing dishes and cooking utensils. It features a special softener that uses salt to eliminate lime and minerals from water, which helps prevent deposits on dishes and extends the appliance's lifespan, especially in hard water areas. The dishwasher offers various wash programmes tailored to different levels of soiling and types of crockery, including Intensive Wash for heavily soiled items, Normal Wash, Light Wash (EN50242) for moderately soiled items, Rapid Wash for quick cleaning, and Soak for pre-washing.

The appliance operates by spraying water and detergent onto dishes, followed by rinsing and drying cycles. It includes a detergent dispenser for both main wash and pre-wash cycles, and a rinse aid dispenser to improve drying performance and prevent spotting. The amount of salt and rinse aid consumed can be adjusted based on water hardness and desired drying results, respectively.

Usage Features

The DWi60 is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear control panel.

  • Control Panel: Features a Programme Indicator, Programme Button, ON-OFF Indicator, and ON-OFF Button.
  • Loading: Dishes should be loaded carefully, removing larger food particles beforehand. The lower rack is suitable for difficult-to-clean items like pots and pans, while the upper rack is for more delicate items such as glasses and cups. The upper rack's height is adjustable to accommodate taller items in the bottom basket. A silverware basket is provided, which can be doubled or placed in the upper rack for flexibility. A knife rack clips onto the side of the top basket for safe washing of sharp knives.
  • Salt Filling: The salt container is located beneath the lower rack. It should be filled with dishwasher-specific salt, especially when using hard water, to prevent deposits. Adjusting salt consumption is possible via a ring on the container.
  • Rinse Aid Filling: The rinse aid dispenser is on the inside panel of the door. Rinse aid dosage can be adjusted with a screwdriver to optimize drying and prevent streaks or spots.
  • Detergent Filling: The detergent dispenser is also on the inside panel of the door, with separate compartments for pre-wash and main wash. Only dishwasher-specific detergent should be used. The use of 3-in-1 or similar tablets is forbidden for Rapid Wash and Soak programmes.
  • Programme Selection: Users can select the most appropriate programme based on the type and amount of dishes, and the level of food remains.
  • Switching On/Off: The dishwasher is turned on by pressing the ON-OFF button and then the programme button. The programme starts automatically once the door is closed. After the cycle, six beeps indicate completion, and the appliance can be switched off.
  • Interrupting a Programme: The programme can be interrupted by opening the door, but caution is advised due to hot water and steam.

Maintenance Features

Regular inspection and maintenance are crucial for the DWi60's performance and longevity.

  • After Every Wash: Turn off the appliance and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent moisture and odors.
  • Cleaning:
    • Exterior and Rubber Parts: Use a cloth with warm soapy water; avoid solvents or abrasive cleaning products.
    • Interior: For spots or stains, use a cloth dampened with water and vinegar, or a specialized dishwasher cleaning product.
    • Seals: Clean periodically with a damp sponge to prevent food trapping and odors.
  • Filters: The filters (coarse micro-filter and filter unit) prevent food particles from reaching the pump. They should be checked and cleaned regularly under running water after each wash.
  • Spray Arms: Inspect the nozzles of the upper and lower spray arms for blockages caused by lime or food remnants. The lower arm can be pulled up and lifted off, and the upper arm can be unscrewed for cleaning under running water. Ensure they are refitted securely.
  • Moving the Appliance: If the appliance needs to be moved, keep it in a vertical position if possible, or on its back if necessary.
  • Holiday Care: Before extended periods of non-use (holidays), run an empty wash cycle, unplug the appliance, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly ajar to preserve seals and prevent odors.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed "Fault finding" section to help users resolve minor problems themselves, such as the appliance not starting, unusual foam, knocking sounds, or issues with dish cleanliness. It also advises contacting an authorized service center for more complex issues, providing model and serial numbers.
  • Disposal: Old appliances should be made inoperable by cutting the power cord and removing the door lock to prevent child entrapment. They should be taken to a designated waste disposal center. Packaging materials are recyclable.
  • Installation Safety: Ensure proper earthing, correct voltage and frequency, and easy access to the mains plug after installation. The power supply cord must not be excessively bent or flattened.
