Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective use of the Argo LOXO electric heater, which features carbon fiber heating elements. The heater is designed for use in correctly insulated environments or for occasional heating needs.

Function Description

The Argo LOXO is an electric heater equipped with carbon fiber heating elements, designed to provide warmth. It operates by converting electrical energy into heat through these elements. The device includes a selection knob that allows users to choose between different power settings and activate an oscillation function. An anti-tip device is integrated to enhance safety by preventing operation if the unit is inclined or overturned.

Usage Features

General Operation: To operate the heater, first ensure it is placed on a flat, stable surface. If moving the appliance, always use the integrated handle. Before switching on, confirm the appliance is standing vertically. Connect the power cord to a suitable electric socket (230V~/50Hz).

Power Settings and Oscillation: The selection knob offers two main power settings:

  • ECO "ON" (400 W): This setting provides a lower heat output, suitable for energy-efficient heating.
  • COMFORT "ON" (800 W): This setting delivers a higher heat output for more rapid warming.

To activate the oscillation function, rotate the knob to either ECO "SWING" or COMFORT "SWING". This will cause the appliance to swing automatically from left to right, distributing the airflow more broadly across the room. To stop the heater's operation, turn the knob to the OFF position.

Safety Features: The LOXO heater incorporates several safety measures:

  • Anti-tip device: This feature automatically prevents the heater from operating if it detects that the product is inclined, ensuring it only functions when stable and upright. It is crucial not to position the appliance on its side or upside down.
  • Thermal cut-out: The appliance is designed with a thermal cut-out to prevent overheating. To avoid inadvertently resetting this safety feature, the heater must not be supplied through an external switching device (e.g., a timer) or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.
  • Automatic activation prevention: Do not use the fan heater with a controller or any other external device that activates the appliance automatically, as this could pose a fire risk if the heater is covered or incorrectly positioned.

Important Safety Guidelines:

  • Placement: Ensure all objects are at least 1 meter away from the front and sides of the appliance to prevent fire hazards. Do not place the carbon fiber heater on soft surfaces like a bed, where openings may become blocked. Always place it on a stable, flat, level surface.
  • Covering: WARNING: AVOID COVERING THE CARBON FIBER HEATER TO PREVENT IT FROM OVERHEATING. The heater may cause a fire risk if covered by or in contact with flammable materials such as curtains, drapery, or blankets. Keep the carbon fiber heater away from these materials.
  • Ventilation: Use the appliance in a well-ventilated area. Do not restrict the air inlet and outlet grilles.
  • Environment: Avoid using the heater in dusty environments or in the presence of flammable vapors (e.g., in workshops, garages, or areas with paint vapors). It must not be used in potentially dangerous locations such as flammable, explosive, chemical-laden, or wet atmospheres.
  • Children and Vulnerable People: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they receive supervision or instruction on safe use and understand the associated hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Children under 3 years old must be kept out of reach unless properly supervised. Children between 3 and 8 years old may only turn the appliance on/off if it is in its normal operating position, and they have been instructed on safe use and understood the risks. They must not plug in, adjust, clean, or perform maintenance on the appliance. WARNING: Certain parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Special care should be taken when children and vulnerable people are nearby.
  • Power Cord: Do not place any objects on the cord or bend it. Do not run the cord under carpets or cover it with blankets or similar materials. Place the cord far from busy areas to prevent accidental pulling. If the power supply cord or plug is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, dealer, or a similarly qualified person to avoid safety risks. Always unplug the carbon fiber heater when not in use.
  • Water and Moisture: Do not immerse the cord, plug, or any other element of the appliance in water or other liquids. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Do not operate the carbon fiber heater in close proximity to bathtubs, showers, washbasins, or pools. Do not operate the appliance outdoors.
  • Overheating: The most common cause of overheating is dust build-up. Regular cleaning of air outlets and grilles is essential.
  • Initial Start-up: Upon initial start-up, the carbon fiber heater may emit a slight, harmless smell. This is a normal effect of the initial heating of the internal elements and should not recur later.
  • Troubleshooting: In the event of abnormal noise or a strange smell, switch off the appliance immediately. Do not attempt to repair it; contact your local after-sales service.
  • Disconnection: To disconnect the heater, push the switch to OFF and remove the plug from the socket. Always pull on the plug, not the cord.
  • Extension Cords: It is not advisable to use extension cords, as they may overheat and cause a fire risk. Do not use a single extension cord to operate multiple appliances.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Outside Surface:

  • Before Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance before performing any cleaning or maintenance operations. IMPORTANT: DO NOT IMMERSE THE CERAMIC FAN HEATER IN WATER.
  • Dust Removal: Use a soft cloth to remove any dust from the fan heater.
  • Heavy Soiling: If the fan heater is excessively dirty, use a soft cloth dampened with water and a neutral detergent at a temperature below 50°C. Allow the fan heater to dry completely before using it again.
  • Grille Cleaning: Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the air inlet/outlet grilles.
  • Prohibited Cleaners: Do not use abrasive detergents, corrosive detergents, solvents (such as petrol), oils, chemical substances, or other items that may damage the surface. Do not wash the appliance with water.

Storage: If the appliance will not be used for prolonged periods, it should be stored in its original packaging, along with this manual, in a cool and dry place.

Disposal: At the end of its useful life, the appliance must not be disposed of with household waste. Consumers play a crucial role in the reuse, recycling, and recovery of such waste. The dismantled appliance, with its components collected separately, must be delivered to a local waste disposal facility or returned to the dealer free of charge when purchasing a new equivalent appliance. Sorted disposal of electric and electronic equipment prevents negative environmental and human health consequences from improper waste disposal and allows for the recovery and recycling of constituent materials, saving energy and resources. The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the appliance indicates the obligation for separate disposal.
