Overview

The Ariston Cube Room Sensor is a device designed to monitor and regulate room temperature, offering both cabled (3319116) and wireless (3319118) versions. It functions as a modulating room sensor, contributing to the energy efficiency of space heating systems.

Function Description:

The room sensor detects the ambient temperature and communicates with a heat generator (such as a heat pump) to regulate the heating or cooling of a specific zone. It supports three primary operating modes:

  • Programmed Operation: This mode follows a pre-set heating/cooling schedule configured on the system interface. Users can temporarily adjust the set-point temperature and its duration within this mode.
  • Manual Operation: In this mode, the sensor maintains a manually set temperature throughout the day, overriding any time scheduling.
  • Off Mode (with Anti-freeze Function): This mode disables heating/cooling for the zone but activates the anti-freeze function, which will only turn on central heating if the room temperature drops below 5°C to protect pipes from freezing.

The sensor features a display and keys for user interaction. The display shows the detected room temperature, WiFi device detection on the bus (for cabled versions), heating/cooling mode indication, fault messages, cooling/anti-freeze mode status, heat request, timer-based set-point modifications, and active mode (manual or programmed). Keys allow users to increase/decrease temperature settings, confirm selections (OK), and switch between operating modes (MODE).

Important Technical Specifications:

Cabled Version (3319116):

  • Power Supply: BridgeNet® BUS 8 to 24Vdc max / Limited Power Source complies.
  • Electrical Uptake: 6 mA.
  • Operating Temperature: 0 to 40°C.
  • Storage Temperature: -10 to 70°C.
  • Dimensions: 93 x 88 x 24 mm.
  • Bus Wire Length and Cross-sectional Area: Max. 50 m - min. 0.5 mm². (Note: A shielded cable or twisted pair cable is recommended to avoid interference problems).
  • Insulation Class: III.
  • Protection Rating: IP20 (when installed as specified).
  • Temperature Sensor Accuracy: ±1%.
  • Temperature Control Class: V (contributes +3% to energy efficiency for space heating). If an Ariston external sensor is added, the class becomes VI (contributes +4%). In a system with 3 zones, 1 Sensys, and 1 room sensor, the class is VIII (contributes +5%).

Wireless Version (3319118):

  • Power Supply: 2 x 1.5 V, LR03 (AAA) alkaline batteries, or alternatively, 2 x 1.5 V, LR03 (AAA) 1200 mAh lithium batteries.
  • Battery Life: Approximately 2 years.
  • Operating Temperature: 0 to 40°C.
  • Storage Temperature: -10 to 70°C.
  • Dimensions: 93 x 88 x 24 mm.
  • Radio Frequency: 868 MHz.
  • Reception Range: 100 m - 300 m in the open, depending on the number of devices.

Usage Features:

  • Operating Mode Selection: The system's operating mode (heating or cooling) can be set via the sensor, especially when connected to a product supporting both modes (e.g., a heat pump). This selection applies to the entire system.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Users can increase or decrease the desired room temperature using the '+' and '-' keys.
  • Zone Association: Both cabled and wireless versions require association with a specific zone (1-6) of the heating/cooling system.
  • Technical Parameters: Access to technical parameters allows for room temperature correction (CF01, range +/-5°C), display backlight settings (CF11, CF12), and for the wireless version, detection of devices (rF01), association of zones (rF02), signal level check (rF03), and association status (rF04).
  • Error Reporting: The sensor displays error codes such as "Err - Ebus" for zone association errors and "Err - rout" for radio communication errors, providing guidance for troubleshooting. A general "Err" indicates a damaged room sensor.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement (Wireless Version): The wireless sensor continuously monitors its battery charge. A "battery low charge" indicator (M) will appear on the display when batteries are nearing exhaustion. Users should replace the 2 x 1.5 V AAA alkaline or lithium batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Used batteries must be disposed of according to local and national safety and environmental regulations.
  • Cleaning: The device should not be cleaned with insecticides, solvents, or aggressive detergents to avoid damage to plastic or painted parts. Users should not climb on unstable supports to clean the device.
  • Installation and Repair: Installation should be performed by a qualified technician. Before any connections, electrical power to the heat generator must be shut off. If the room sensor is damaged, it should be replaced.

Safety Regulations:

  • General Safety: Failure to comply with warnings may result in personal injury, death, or serious damage to property, plants, or animals.
  • Installation: Do not remove the appliance from its installation location for operations.
  • Child Safety: The appliance can be used by children over 8 years old and by individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental abilities, or lack of experience, provided they are supervised and instructed on safe use and potential risks. Children must not play with the appliance, and cleaning/maintenance by the user should not be done by unsupervised children.
  • Intended Use: The appliance is designed for normal domestic use only. Using it for other purposes or operating it beyond its capacity can cause damage.
  • WEEE Compliance: The product conforms to EU Directive 2012/19/EU (Italian Legislative Decree 49/2014) concerning Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). It must be collected separately from other waste at the end of its useful life and delivered to appropriate local facilities for recycling. Smaller electronic products (less than 25 cm) can be delivered free of charge to electronic equipment dealers with a surface area of at least 400 m², even without purchasing new products. Proper disposal helps prevent negative environmental and health effects and encourages material reuse/recycling.
