Overview

This document provides operating instructions for an Ariston hob, covering installation, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting. It is available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic.

Function Description

The Ariston hob is a built-in cooking appliance designed for domestic use. It features various types of burners and heating elements to facilitate different cooking methods. The appliance is equipped with control knobs for adjusting heat levels and an ignition system for gas burners. Safety devices are integrated to prevent gas leaks in case of flame extinguishment.

Usage Features

The hob offers a versatile cooking experience with different types of burners and heating elements:

Gas Burners: Gas burners come in various sizes and power levels (Fast, Reduced Fast, Semi Fast, Auxiliary, Triple Crown, Semi-FishBurner) to accommodate different cookware diameters. To light a gas burner, press down and turn the corresponding control knob anti-clockwise to the maximum setting while holding a lit match or lighter near the burner. For models with an ignition button, press the button simultaneously. The knob should be held down for 2-3 seconds to allow the safety device to heat up and keep the flame alight. If the flame accidentally extinguishes, turn off the control knob and wait at least one minute before relighting. To switch off, turn the knob clockwise to the "off" position.

  • Practical Advice for Gas Burners:
    • Use cookware appropriate for each burner to prevent the flame from reaching the sides of the pot or pan.
    • Always use cookware with a flat bottom and keep the lid on.
    • Once the contents of the pan reach boiling point, turn the knob to the minimum setting to save energy.

Half Fish-Kettle Burner (available on certain models): These are elliptic burners that can be rotated up to 90 degrees, offering flexibility for various cookware shapes. To rotate them, ensure they are cool, lift them out of their housing, and replace them in the desired position. These burners can be used in tandem or separately for fish-kettles, oval cookware, griddles, rectangular/square cookware (minimum 28x28 cm), large cookware (26-28 cm diameter), or single medium-sized cookware (16-20 cm diameter).

Electric Hot Plates (available on certain models): Electric hot plates offer six settings for various cooking needs, from cooking vegetables and fish (setting 1) to browning and reaching a boil quickly (setting 6). Before first use, heat the hot plates at maximum temperature for approximately 4 minutes without any pans to harden their protective coating.

  • Practical Advice for Electric Hot Plates:
    • Use cookware with a flat bottom and a diameter not less than that of the hot plate to avoid heat loss and damage.

Cooktop Broiler (available on certain models): The broiler is preheated by turning the knob to setting 12. Settings 1-8 are recommended for reheating food or keeping it warm. Cooking vegetables with the broiler may cause stains that are difficult to remove.

Ceramic Glass Module (available on certain models): This cooktop features dual-ring radiant heating elements. The circular part ("A") can be turned on by rotating the knob clockwise to any of the 12 settings. To enlarge the cooking surface to include section "B", turn the knob to setting 12, click it into the " " setting, and then rotate counter-clockwise to one of the 12 settings. The heating zones turn red when active. An indicator light illuminates when the knob is on any setting other than "Off".

  • Practical Advice for Ceramic Glass Module:
    • Use flat-bottomed pans that adhere perfectly to the cooking zone.
    • Pans should be large enough to cover the hotplate fully to utilize all available heat.
    • Ensure the bottom of cookware is dry and clean for correct adherence and long life.
    • Avoid using cookware previously used on gas burners, as the heat concentration may deform the pan base, preventing proper adherence.
    • Never leave a cooking zone on without cookware, as it can damage the heating elements.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of the hob. Always disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before performing any cleaning or maintenance.

Cleaning the Appliance:

  • General Cleaning: Avoid abrasive or corrosive detergents, stain removers, anti-rust products, powder detergents, or sponges with abrasive surfaces, as these can scratch the surface. Never use steam or pressure cleaners.
  • Hob Surface: Typically, a damp sponge and absorbent kitchen roll are sufficient.
  • Removable Burner Parts: Wash frequently with warm water and soap to remove burnt-on substances.
  • Automatic Lighting Devices: For hobs with automatic lighting, frequently clean the terminal part of the electronic instant lighting devices and check gas outlet holes for blockages.
  • Stainless Steel Surfaces: Hard water or aggressive detergents containing phosphorus can mark stainless steel. After cleaning, rinse and dry any remaining water drops.
  • Ceramic Glass Module: Before use, clean the surface with a damp cloth to remove dust or food residues. Regularly clean with warm water and a non-abrasive detergent. Periodically, use special products. Remove food buildup or grease with a cleaning scraper (e.g., CERA Quick, not supplied) while the surface is still warm. Clean with a suitable cleaning product and paper towels, then rub with a damp cloth and dry. Immediately remove aluminum foil, plastic items, synthetic materials, sugar, or high-sugar foods that have melted onto the surface with a scraper while still hot. Special cleaning products form a protective layer against dirt buildup and damage from high-sugar foods. Do not use abrasive sponges or chemically aggressive cleaners.
  • Grill: It is recommended to clean the grill while it is still hot, using the provided handles to move it to the sink. Wait approximately 15 minutes for the heating element to cool before removing the pan beneath the grill.

Gas Tap Maintenance: If the gas taps become jammed or difficult to turn over time, they must be replaced. This procedure must be performed by a qualified technician authorized by the manufacturer.
