  If the Arjohuntleigh Minstrel Lifting System experiences unexpected movement, immediately release both control buttons. If releasing the buttons doesn't stop the movement, push the red Emergency Stop button and remove the battery. Use the System Failure Lowering Override to safely seat the patient before removing the hoist and taking it out of service. A qualified technician must inspect and approve the Minstrel before it is used again. This could be due to pressing two control buttons at the same time or a faulty hand control, push buttons, or electronics.

  If the Arjohuntleigh Minstrel Lifting System is not raising or lowering and/or the chassis legs cannot be opened or closed, try using the Dual Up/Down Control on the mast. If it works with these controls but not with the hand control, the hand control is likely damaged and needs replacement.

  If the Arjohuntleigh Minstrel Lifting System makes a noise but the jib does not move upwards when you press the “Raise” button, it is likely that an obstruction is blocking the jib. Remove the obstruction and thoroughly check for damage before continuing. If unsure, use the System Failure Lowering Override to return the resident to a safe seated position before removing the hoist and withdrawing it from use. Ensure a qualified technician inspects and approves the Minstrel before reuse.

  If the Arjohuntleigh Minstrel Lifting System makes a noise but the chassis legs do not open when pressing the “Chassis Legs Open” button, it is likely that an obstruction is blocking the chassis legs. Remove the obstruction and check for damage before continuing. If in doubt, use the System Failure Lowering Override to return the resident to a safe seated position before removing the hoist and withdrawing it from use. The Minstrel should be inspected and approved by a qualified technician before being used again.

  The Arjohuntleigh Minstrel Lifting System may be raising and lowering more slowly than normal due to a low battery power level. Check the LCD light, digital display, and hour/cycle meter on the mast above the battery to assess the power level. If you suspect low power, replace the battery with a fully charged one to compare performance. Charge the low battery and continue use with a fully charged battery.

  If a brand new Arjohuntleigh Minstrel Lifting System is not functioning, ensure that the red Power Off button is not engaged. Press the green Power On/reset button to activate the system.
