Note: Electrical wiring must be carried out
by a registered electrical contractor.
Ensure electricity is switched off at the mains
before installing or maintaining any light fitting
Where to fit your Arlec Dual Floodlight
with Sensor
Ideally the light should be mounted 2.4 metres (8ft)
above the area to be scanned (Refer Fig.1) or on
an eave.
Although this product is weatherproof it is
preferable to mount your Arlec Dual Floodlight with
Sensor in a sheltered or semi-sheltered location.
To avoid damage to unit – do not
aim the sensor
towards the sun.

Installation Instructions
Dual Floodlight with Sensor
Important! Please read these instructions carefully.
MAL413
To avoid nuisance triggering, the sensor should be
directed away from heat sources such as barbecues,
airconditioners, other outside lighting, flue vents and
moving cars.
Do not aim towards reflective surfaces such as
smooth white walls, swimming pools etc.
The scanning specifications (15 metres at 110° scan)
may vary slightly depending on the mounting height
and location. (Refer Fig. 1 and 2). The detection range
of the unit may also alter with temperature change.
Before selecting a place to install the Arlec Dual
Floodlight with Sensor, you should note that
movement across the scan area is more effective
than movement directly toward or away from the
sensor. (Refer Fig. 3A).
If movement is made walking directly towards or
away from the sensor and not across, the apparent
detection range will be substantially reduced
(Refer Fig. 3B).

What to do if my Arlec Flood Light stays on all the time?
    • M
      Marissa WilliamsAug 12, 2025
If your Arlec Flood Light remains on, there are a few potential causes: 1. The sensor might be in Manual Mode. To resolve this, switch the light OFF for at least 15 seconds, and then return it to the ON position. 2. The sensor could be continuously triggered by something like trees, pools, or flues. Try redirecting the sensor away from these elements. 3. Incorrect wiring could also be the issue. Double-check the wiring to ensure it's correct.

How to improve the sensitivity of my Arlec MAL413 Flood Light?
    • B
      bdaviesAug 20, 2025
If your Arlec Flood Light has poor sensitivity, it might be because movement is directly toward or away from the sensor. Try redirecting the sensor. Also, higher ambient temperatures can affect sensitivity, so redirecting the sensor might help in this case as well.

Why does my Arlec Flood Light keep turning on by itself?
    • A
      Arthur SimmonsOct 31, 2025
Your Arlec Flood Light might be turning on for several reasons: * Heat from the bulb may be activating the sensor. Try adjusting the lamp holders to ensure there's at least a 40mm gap between the PAR38 bulb and the sensor head. * Heat sources like air conditioners, vents, heater flues, barbecues, other outside lights, or moving cars could be triggering the sensor. Adjust the sensor's direction to avoid these sources. * Animals or birds, such as possums or pets, might be setting it off. Redirecting the sensor might help. * On/off switching of electric fans or lights on the same circuit could be causing interference. Consider replacing a faulty switch, replacing noisy fluorescent tubes or starters, or connecting the floodlight to a separate circuit. * Reflection from a swimming po...
