Overview

The Armacost RibbonFlex PRO LED Tape Light Kit (Item 451200) is a versatile lighting solution designed for indoor/dry locations, offering customizable illumination for various applications, particularly under cabinets and for uplighting. This kit includes an RF receiver, an 8.2-foot LED tape light (pre-assembled), a plug-in power supply, an RF dimmer remote, SureLock Wire Lead Connectors (optional use), and wire support clips.

Function Description:

The core function of this device is to provide flexible, low-voltage LED lighting. The LED tape light can be cut to specific lengths or extended using additional connectors and tape, allowing for tailored installations. It operates on a 12VDC 3A power supply, ensuring safe and efficient operation. The included RF dimmer remote enables users to control the lighting wirelessly, adjusting brightness, turning the lights ON/OFF, and selecting from various dynamic fade and strobe effects. The remote's RF technology means it does not require line-of-sight to operate the lights, offering convenience in placement. The system is designed for easy installation, with an adhesive backing on the LED tape for surface mounting and SureLock Connectors for making turns, going around corners, or splicing to extend lengths.

Usage Features:

  • Customizable Length: The LED tape light can be cut with scissors at designated copper pads or silver solder joints to achieve the desired length. It can also be extended up to a total length of 5 meters using Armacost RibbonFlex Pro item #142210 (sold separately) or additional SureLock Connectors.
  • Flexible Installation: The tape light's flexibility allows it to be installed in curved and irregular spaces. The adhesive backing facilitates surface mounting, while SureLock Connectors simplify turns and extensions.
  • Wireless Control: The RF dimmer remote provides comprehensive control over the lighting. Users can:
    • Turn lights ON or OFF.
    • Adjust brightness incrementally or use quick access buttons for preset levels (100%, 50%, 25%, 10%).
    • Select from various fade and strobe dynamic effects.
    • Increase or decrease the speed of the selected dynamic effect.
    • The remote operates without line-of-sight, with a range of up to 50 feet in optimal conditions.
  • Mounting Options:
    • Under Cabinet Lighting: For continuous runs under cabinets, a 1/2-inch hole may be drilled through cabinet side lips. To maximize light output and focus on the work surface, mount the tape 1-2 inches behind the front cabinet lip, which works best with dull or matte finished countertops. To reduce bright spots on highly reflective countertops, mount the tape light on the inside back of the cabinet lip frame facing the backsplash. For cabinets or shelves without a lip, a visual barrier (e.g., quarter round molding) can be used to hide the LEDs.
    • Above Cabinet Uplighting: For indirect uplighting, mount the LED tape on a rigid strip (e.g., thin lattice or corner guard molding) on top of cabinets. Angle the strip to achieve desired illumination. To create a seamless glow and avoid bright spots, position the tape light strip farther from adjacent walls.
  • Polarity Observation: It is crucial to observe polarity (+ to + and - to -) when making all 12-volt connections to ensure proper operation and prevent electrical shorting. Wire colors and polarity markings on the tape should align.
  • Multi-Kit Pairing: Multiple kits can be paired to a single remote for synchronized control. The pairing process involves unplugging the power supply, waiting 5 seconds, restoring power, and then pressing and holding the 50% and 10% buttons on the remote within 10 seconds. Kits can also be returned to single-remote operation using a unique remote.
  • Soldering Option: For more permanent or custom connections, wires can be soldered directly to the tape light or sections of tape light can be soldered together.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The light can be cleaned with a clean, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using cleaners with chemicals, solvents, or harsh abrasives, as these can damage the light strip.
  • Battery Replacement: The remote uses a CR2025 DC 3V button battery. To replace, push in the tab on the side of the battery tray and pull it out. Always use the correct size and grade of battery, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -). Remove used batteries promptly and remove the battery if the remote is not used for an extended period.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues such as the LED strip not lighting (checking power supply, connections, polarity, remote battery, and range) or only part of the strip lighting (checking connection points).
  • Warranty: The product comes with a three-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, abuse, accident, modifications, alteration, neglect, mishandling, improper installation, or normal wear and tear on the finish.
  • Recycling: Electrical waste should not be disposed of with household waste; users are encouraged to recycle where facilities exist.
