Why is my ASM Paint Sprayer motor not operating?

  The motor of your ASM Paint Sprayer might not be operating due to several reasons. The pressure control knob setting might be too low, so try slowly increasing the pressure. The spray tip or fluid filter could be clogged; relieve the pressure and clear the clog or clean the gun filter. If water or water-based paint has frozen in the sprayer, thaw it in a warm area completely before starting. Also, check the displacement pump connecting rod pin and ensure it is in place and secured with the spring retainer. If the fan won’t turn, the motor may need to be replaced.

  If the motor runs and the pump strokes on your ASM Paint Sprayer, make sure the prime valve is closed. Check if the paint supply is empty and refill and reprime the pump if needed. Clean the intake strainer if it's clogged. Ensure the suction tube isn't leaking air by tightening the nut and checking the o-ring on the tube. Leaking around the throat packing nut may indicate worn or damaged packings, and for a damaged pump rod, see Pump Manual 312362.

  If your ASM Paint Sprayer has low output, it could be due to several factors. A worn spray tip can cause this, so relieve the pressure and replace the tip. Check if the pump continues to stroke when the gun trigger is released. Also, check for a leaking prime valve. Ensure suction tube connections are tight and inspect the o-ring on the suction tube. Reset the building circuit breaker or replace the fuse, and try another electrical outlet. Replace an incorrect extension cord with a correct, grounded one. Also, check leads from motor to circuit board for damaged or loose wire connectors and make sure that worn motor brushes are greater than 1/4 in. (6 mm). Clean motor brushes if they are binding in brush holders. Replace pressure control assembly if there is low stall pressure. Finally, the...
