Overview

This document serves as the User Guide for the ASUS VG24V Series LCD Monitor, providing comprehensive information on its setup, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The ASUS VG24V Series LCD Monitor is a widescreen display designed to offer a crisp, broader, and brighter viewing experience. It incorporates a range of features aimed at enhancing user interaction, particularly for gaming and multimedia consumption. The monitor supports high-definition multimedia input via HDMI and DisplayPort, allowing connectivity with various devices.

A key feature of this monitor is its OSD (On-Screen Display) menu, which provides extensive control over image settings and system configurations. Users can navigate this menu using a 5-way button located on the bottom of the monitor. The OSD is structured into several main functions:

  • GameVisual: This function offers seven video preset modes tailored for different content types, including Scenery Mode, Racing Mode, Cinema Mode, RTS/RPG Mode, FPS Mode, sRGB Mode, and MOBA Mode. These modes leverage ASUS's GameVisual™ Video Intelligence Technology to optimize display settings for specific viewing scenarios. Each mode has a "Reset" option to revert to its default settings.
  • Blue Light Filter: This feature allows users to adjust the energy level of blue light emitted from the LED backlight, aiming to reduce eye strain. It offers four levels, with Level 4 being an optimized setting compliant with TUV Low Blue Light Certification.
  • Color: This section enables users to customize image color settings, including Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Color Temp., and Skin Tone. Color Temp. offers preset modes (Cool, Normal, Warm) and a User Mode for fine-tuning R, G, and B values. Skin Tone provides Reddish, Natural, and Yellowish options.
  • Image: This function allows adjustments to various image parameters such as Sharpness, Trace Free, Aspect Control, VividPixel, ASCR, ELMB, FreeSync Premium, and Shadow Boost. These settings are crucial for optimizing picture quality, response time, and overall visual clarity.
  • Input Select: Users can manually select the input source from HDMI-1, HDMI-2, or DisplayPort signals.
  • System Setup: This section provides access to general system configurations, including GameVisual Demo Mode, Volume control, ECO Mode for power saving, OSD Setup (OSD Timeout, DDC/CI, Transparency), Language selection, Key Lock, Information display, Power Indicator control, Power Key Lock, and an "All Reset" option to revert all settings to factory defaults.
  • MyFavorite: This function allows users to load and save their preferred monitor settings, facilitating quick access to personalized configurations.

The monitor also includes GamePlus, a toolkit designed to enhance the gaming environment. GamePlus offers functions like Crosshair (with different styles), Timer, FPS Counter, and Display Alignment. These tools can be activated and moved on the screen, providing practical assistance for gamers.

Usage Features

The ASUS VG24V monitor is designed for ease of use and ergonomic adjustment.

  • Assembly: The monitor can be easily assembled by securing the arm to the display and then inserting the base into the arm using a screwdriver.
  • Adjustability: The monitor's angle can be adjusted from +23° to -5° to achieve the most comfortable viewing position. Users are advised to hold the stand when adjusting the angle to prevent the monitor from falling.
  • VESA Wall Mount Compatibility: The detachable stand allows for VESA wall mounting (100x100 mm), providing flexibility in placement. When detaching the arm/stand, users must disconnect cables, place the monitor facedown on its packaging, remove screws, and then detach the stand. It is important to use a UL Listed Wall Mount Bracket with appropriate weight/load capacity and screw size.
  • Connectivity: The monitor features multiple input ports, including HDMI-1, HDMI-2, and DisplayPort, along with an Earphone-out Port and a DC-IN Port for power. A Kensington Lock slot is also provided for security.
  • Power Indicator: The power indicator light changes color (White for ON, Amber for Standby mode, OFF) to indicate the monitor's status.
  • Hotkeys: Dedicated hotkeys for GameVisual and GamePlus provide quick access to these frequently used functions. The 5-way button also serves as a multi-functional control for OSD navigation and value adjustment.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and cleaning are essential for maintaining the monitor's performance and longevity.

  • Handling: Before repositioning or lifting the monitor, disconnect all cables and the power cord. When carrying, grasp the edges of the monitor, avoiding lifting by the stand or cord.
  • Cleaning: The monitor surface should be cleaned with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth after turning it off and unplugging the power cord. Stubborn stains can be removed with a cloth dampened with a mild cleaner. Avoid cleaners containing alcohol or acetone, and never spray cleaner directly onto the screen to prevent internal damage or electric shock.
  • Ventilation: The monitor has ventilation slots on the back or top of the cabinet. These slots should not be blocked, and the product should not be placed near radiators or heat sources without proper ventilation.
  • Power Supply: The monitor should be operated only from the specified power source. Use the appropriate power plug for the local standard and avoid overloading power strips or extension cords to prevent fire or electric shock.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the monitor in wet areas and ensure it is on a stable surface.
  • Protection from Surges: Unplug the unit during lightning storms or prolonged periods of non-use to protect it from power surge damage.
  • Safety Precautions: Never attempt to open the monitor cabinet due to dangerous high voltages inside. If the power supply is broken, contact a qualified service technician or retailer. Ensure all cables are correctly connected and undamaged before use. Never push objects or spill liquid into the monitor's slots.
  • Troubleshooting (FAQ): The manual includes a troubleshooting section to help users address common issues such as the power LED not turning on, no screen image, image quality problems, or sound issues. This section provides possible solutions, including checking connections, adjusting OSD settings, and inspecting cables.
  • Eye Strain Alleviation: The manual provides recommendations to alleviate eye strain, such as taking short breaks, focusing on distant objects, and performing eye exercises. It also highlights the Blue Light Filter's role in reducing harmful blue light.
