PROBLEM SOLVING
F
AULT
INDICATION
:
WARNINGS
AND
SHUT
DOWNS
General
Faults are indicated as follows:
– an indication lamp on the instrument panel lights up
– the horn (H22 - optional) generates an external audible signal
– the flashlight (H23) starts flashing
The indication lamps on the instrument panel only extinguish after the
fault has been solved.
The external audible (horn) and visible (flasher light) signal can
switched off by pushing the alarm acceptance button (S50). Whenever
a new fault occurs, the horn and the flasher light will be activated again.
Indications and actions in case of warnings
(ECM/Control Unit)
Indication:
– one or more of the indication lamps (H2, H3, H24, H25) on the instru-
ment panel light up
– the horn (H22 - optional) and the flashlight (H23) are activated
– the engine/compressor keeps running
Action:
The problem should be solved as soon as possible.
Indications and actions in case of shut downs (ECM)
Indication:
– the indication lamps H25 and H26 on the instrument panel light up
– the horn (H22 - optional) and the flashlight (H23) are activated
– the ECM shut down function is activated: the engine stops
Action:
– detect the cause of the problem
– solve the problem before restarting
Indications in case of immediate shut down
(Control Unit)
Indication:
– the engine stops immediately
Only the compressor element air outlet temperature can cause an im-
mediate shut down.
P
OSSIBLE
CAUSES
Warnings controlled by the control unit
These warnings are caused by switches S10 or S37:2 (closed) which cause
an indication on the instrument panel: H2 or H3 lights up.
Shut downs controlled by the control unit
These immediate shut downs are caused by switch S7 or S8 (opened).
Warnings and shut downs controlled by the ECM
(ECM/Control Unit)
DDEC's engine protection:
The DDEC's engine protection system monitors all sensors and electronic
components connected to the ECM and recognizes system malfunctions. If
a minor fault occurs, H25 lights up. If the protection system detects a major
fault, H25 and H26 light up (see shut down parameters) and the malfunc-
tion is stored by the ECM. At the same time, the protection system starts
the shut down function.
Shut down function:
The ECM reduces the speed over a 30 seconds period after H26 was acti-
vated. In this period the ECM checks the fault indication several times. If
the fault didn't disappear after the 30 seconds period, the engine will stop.
Shut down parameters:
The following shut down parameters are monitored by the ECM:
– engine coolant level too low (B12)
– engine coolant temperature too high
– engine oil pressure too low
– engine oil temperature too high
– fuel level too low (S37:1)
