Overview

The JD-3001 Portable Geiger Counter is an intelligent instrument designed for comprehensive radiation detection, capable of measuring both nuclear radiation and electromagnetic radiation. This device is engineered to provide users with critical information regarding their environment's radiation levels, ensuring safety through proactive monitoring and alerts. Its primary function is to detect and quantify radiation, offering real-time data and cumulative dose tracking to help users avoid excessive exposure.

A key feature of the JD-3001 is its ability to set an alarm threshold. Within its specified measurement range, users can configure a custom alarm level. Should the detected radiation exceed this preset threshold, the device will issue an audible alarm. This crucial safety mechanism is designed to immediately alert users to potentially hazardous conditions, allowing them to take necessary precautions and prevent overexposure to radiation. The default alarm thresholds for nuclear radiation are 0.020 usv/h, and for electromagnetic radiation, they are 50 V/m and 0.3 µT.

Before operating the JD-3001, it is imperative to read the detailed introduction carefully to ensure correct usage. The manual emphasizes several important tips for proper handling and maintenance. Users are strictly prohibited from disassembling the instrument or disposing of it by throwing it into fire, as this could lead to damage or hazardous situations. To maintain the device's integrity and functionality, it is essential to prevent severe vibration and avoid dropping the instrument. Furthermore, users must ensure that no liquid flows into the inside of the instrument, as this could cause internal damage and malfunction. Adhering to these guidelines will help prolong the life and accuracy of the Geiger counter.

The JD-3001 features a clear LCD monitor that displays various types of information. For nuclear radiation, it shows the real-time dose, average dose, and cumulative dose. For electromagnetic radiation, it displays the electric field intensity and magnetic field intensity. Both modes include a real-time trend chart, providing a visual representation of radiation fluctuations over time. The device also integrates a digital temperature and humidity sensor, displaying these environmental parameters on the screen.

User interaction is facilitated through a series of intuitive buttons. The "Mute" button allows users to turn the alarm sound on or off, with the sound being on by default. The "+" button serves a dual purpose: it quickly switches between nuclear radiation detection and electromagnetic radiation detection modes, and when navigating menus, it moves the cursor up and increases values. Conversely, the "-" button is used to start recording data, indicated by an icon appearing on the screen, and in menu settings, it moves the cursor down and decreases values.

The "Power" button requires a long press of 2 seconds to turn the device on or off, preventing accidental power changes. A dedicated "Temperature unit selection" button allows for easy conversion between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The "Setting" button is central to accessing the device's menu functions. A short press enters the menu page, while a long press of 2 seconds exits it.

The menu system offers several configurable options to tailor the device's operation to specific needs. The "Language" setting provides four options: Chinese, English, Japanese, and Russian, allowing users to select their preferred interface language. The "Function switch" enables users to manually select between electromagnetic and nuclear radiation detection modes, although the "+" button offers a quicker switch on the main page.

The "Time setting" function allows users to adjust the device's internal clock. When setting the time, the background turns red, and the "+" or "-" buttons are used to adjust the values. The "View data" option allows users to browse recorded data files, which are saved with timestamps. The device can store up to 7 days of data, and important data can be exported to a computer via a data cable.

The "Shutdown timer" feature allows users to set an automatic shutdown period, with options for 5, 10, or 30 minutes, or to turn off the timer entirely. The default shutdown is set to 5 minutes, and a specific icon indicates its activation on the screen. The "Alarm value" setting enables users to customize the alarm thresholds for both nuclear and electromagnetic radiation. When adjusting these values, the background turns red, and the "+" or "-" buttons are used for modification. The "Record interval" setting allows users to define how frequently data is logged, with a default interval of 1 second.

The JD-3001 is powered by a built-in 3.7V lithium battery. For charging, it is recommended to use a standard and safe 5.0V 1000mA charger to ensure optimal performance and battery longevity. This portable design, combined with its comprehensive detection capabilities and user-friendly interface, makes the JD-3001 an effective tool for monitoring radiation in various environments.
