This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Austroflamm Flok 2.0 stove, covering its technical specifications, operation, maintenance, and warranty information.
Function Description
The Austroflamm Flok 2.0 is a wood-burning stove designed for space heating. It operates as an intermittent burning device, meaning continuous operation is achieved by regularly adding wood. The stove is certified as an ambient air-independent fireplace by the German Institute for Construction Technology (DIBT), allowing it to be used in rooms with mechanical ventilation systems, provided combustion air is supplied directly from outside through a sealed external air intake. The stove is designed to ensure efficient combustion with minimal emissions, provided dry, untreated wood with a moisture content of less than 15% is used. It features a primary and secondary air supply system, controlled by a lever, to optimize the burning process.
Important Technical Specifications
The Flok 2.0 stove has the following key technical data:
- Height: 958 mm
- Width: 425 mm
- Depth: 417 mm
- Weight: 110 kg
- Flue pipe diameter: 130 mm
- Nominal thermal output (EN 13240): 4 kW
- Maximum thermal capacity: 6 kW
- Minimum thermal capacity: 2.5 kW
- Heated room volume (depending on building insulation): 34 - 88 m³
- Flue gas mass flow (closed): 3.92 g/s
- Flue gas temperature (closed): 343 °C
- Minimum feed pressure (closed): 12 Pa
- Seasonal space heating energy efficiency (ηs): 70.9%
- Energy Efficiency Index (EEI): 107
The stove is designed for multi-occupancy chimneys, provided the chimney dimensions comply with DIN 4705 Part 3. It is a Type 1 stove, meaning it can be connected to a chimney already occupied by other solid fuel stoves or cookers.
Usage Features
Fuel: The preferred fuel is natural, untreated, dry wood with a moisture content of ≤ 25%. Compressed wood logs and lignite briquettes are also suitable. The maximum recommended amount of wood per load is 1.3 kg to prevent overheating and damage to the stove.
Operation:
- Making a fire: To start a fire, pull the air control lever to the "open" position. Place 2-3 logs (approx. 1.0 kg total) diagonally on the combustion chamber floor, ensuring a minimum 2 cm gap between them. Distribute about 0.3 kg of kindling wood on top, then place a firelighter and ignite it. Close the door.
- Heating in-between seasons: During transitional periods (spring/autumn) or in strong winds, if the chimney draft is insufficient, use paper or soft wood kindling to bring the stove or chimney up to temperature.
- Air control: Once the logs are burning well with clear, high flames, adjust the stove's output using the air control lever. The maximum "open" position corresponds to maximum output. If flames are blue instead of yellow, open the air control lever further to increase air supply. Do not close the air control completely during operation to avoid fire hazard.
- Refueling: Only open the door to refuel or arrange embers, then close it immediately. Refuel when only embers remain (and flames are no longer visible).
- Safety distances: Maintain minimum distances from combustible materials: 800 mm to the front (radiation area), 150 mm to the sides, and 100 mm to the back.
- Room ventilation: The room where the stove is installed must have at least one door or window to the outside or be directly adjacent to such a room. Other fireplaces and extractor hoods should not be operated in the same room as the stove.
- Safety precautions: Always wear a safety mitten when operating the stove as surfaces become very hot. Keep children away. Only burn approved fuels. Do not burn or store flammable or explosive materials near the stove. Do not dry laundry on the stove. The appliance must be operated with the stove door closed.
Maintenance Features
General Maintenance:
- Cleaning: The stove, flue outlets, and smoke pipes should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year, or more frequently if deposits accumulate. The chimney should also be cleaned regularly by a chimney sweep.
- Glass cleaning: The glass pane should be cleaned periodically with a specialized product like Austroflamm glass cleaner. For stubborn dirt, use a special cleaner for oven glass.
- Surface care: Lacquered surfaces should be cleaned only with a soft, damp cloth. Special cleaning agents should be avoided.
- Spare parts: Defective parts should be replaced by a certified dealer. Important spare parts include Keramott (bottom, right, left, back, side, baffle plate, and surround plate), gaskets (flat gasket, round gasket), and other parts like the Flok 2.0 door, door handle, Flok BA1 door spring, flue door glass, and glass cleaner.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common problems such as sooty glass (check air supply, use dry wood), poor draft (check chimney, clean stove, ensure proper air supply), strong odors during initial use (due to paint curing), and smoke emission during refueling (ensure only embers remain).
Warranty:
- Commercial Warranty: Austroflamm provides a six-year warranty on the stove body and a two-year warranty on all other steel and cast iron components from the date of first sale. This warranty covers material and manufacturing defects.
- Exclusions: Wear parts (e.g., Keramott, gaskets), surface coatings, paint, glass, and ceramics are not covered. Minor noises due to thermal expansion are also excluded.
- Requirements: The stove must be used and maintained according to the instructions, and installed and commissioned by an authorized specialist. The start-up log must be submitted to Austroflamm within one month of initial commissioning. Repairs under warranty must be carried out exclusively by an Austroflamm-authorized service technician.
- Geographic Scope: The commercial warranty covers Austria, Germany, and France. For other countries, specific conditions of the importer apply.
Data Processing: The manual includes a section for data processing consent, allowing Austroflamm GmbH and AUSTROFLAMM Service GmbH & Co KG to send service reminders and offers for other products via email, SMS, or telephone. This consent is voluntary and can be granted by ticking a box on the provided form.
