1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

Red Wire:  Connecttoafusedandswitched12Vpositivesourcethatisturnedonandowiththeignitionswitch.

Black Wire: Connecttoagoodengine,chassis,orbatteryground.

Green Wire: Connecttothenegativeterminalofastandardignitioncoil,ortothe“TachOutput”terminalontheElectronicIgnitionModule.(Seediagram)

Blue Wire: (Optional)ConnecttopositiveterminalofTrans-BrakeorLineLockSolenoid.Alternatively,connecttotheBrakeLightSwitch,ClutchSwitch,

   oradedicatedRemoteStartSwitch(normallyopen,momentaryclosed).

Violet Wire (Active only during playback): Connectthiswiretotheinput(greenwire)ofastandardAutoMetertachometer.

QUICK SET OPTIONS:

Day/Night Dimming control: This product is extremely bright at the maximum setting for best visibility for drivers during high glare situations. AutoMeter

does not recommend operating this product at full brightness during extremely dark or night time driving conditions. To adjust this product from the daytime or

“High”brightnesssettingtothenighttimeor“Low”brightnesssettingdothefollowing:

 •PressandholdtheMENU (+) button for 2 seconds. The shift light will display the new brightness level and the display will indicate

  whatmodeyouarechangingintowith“Hi”or“Lo”.

Launch RPM Quick Set –IfyouneedtochangeyourLaunchLightSettingquickly,dosowhenthevehicleengineisrunningandtheDigitalProShiftisin“Tach

Mode”byraisingtheengineRPMuntilyouhavereachedthedesiredsetpoint.PresstheENTERbuttontoconrmyournewLaunchLightSetting.Youshould

seetheDecimalindicatorashquicklytoconrm.

Remove RPM Display –Sometimesfewerdistractionsarebetterforadriver.Ifyouwanttobeabletofocusonjusttheshiftlightwhenyou’remakingaper-

formancerunanddon’twanttobedistractedbythedigitalRPMdisplay,youcandisablethedisplayfunction.Toturnon/othedisplayfunction,from“Tach

Mode,”pressandholdtheENTERbuttonfor2seconds.Thedisplaywillindicate“on”or“o”toindicatewhichmodeyouwillbechangingto.

NOTE:Thisfunctiontakesaectinallmodes.TheShift-LiteLEDSandthe“Preset/Record”indicatorLEDwillbetheonlyactiveelementsonthedisplay.

The AutoMeter Digital Pro Shift Gauge is a competition instrument designed to provide precise RPM monitoring and shift light functionality for high-performance vehicles. It features a digital RPM display, a user-programmable shift light with multiple settings and color options, and advanced recording and playback capabilities.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Digital Pro Shift Gauge is to display engine RPM and provide visual cues for optimal shifting. It incorporates a single, precise user-programmable set point for the main shift light, along with multiple shift point settings for progressive shifting. The shift light utilizes intensely-bright LEDs, ensuring maximum visibility even in high-glare daytime conditions. Users can select the coloration of the shift light, with options including White, Red, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, and Magenta. The gauge also offers a color-change progressive shift light capability, where different colors can indicate approaching shift points or over-rev situations.

Beyond real-time RPM display and shift light functions, the device includes a user-selectable dimming function to adjust brightness for nighttime or dark lighting conditions, preventing adverse effects on driver vision. A unique feature is the RPM display blanking, which allows the driver to disable the digital RPM display to reduce distractions and focus solely on the shift light during performance runs.

For data analysis, the gauge boasts a full engine RPM playback capability with 80 seconds of record time. This allows drivers to review their runs in playback mode, observing RPM trends and shift points. During playback, the Tach Output on the violet wire becomes active, enabling connection to a standard AutoMeter tachometer for external display. The "Peak Recall" feature allows users to view the highest RPM achieved during a particular run.

The device also includes a "Launch Lite" function, specifically designed for drag racing and other motorsports requiring a precise launch RPM from a dead stop. This function activates the shift light when the engine is within a specified RPM range around the launch set point.

Important Technical Specifications:

Mounting: Designed to fit in a 2 1/16" diameter hole, compatible with AutoMeter Mounting Cups, Panels, or Gauge Works Pods.
Power Requirement: Connects to a fused and switched 12V positive source (Red Wire) and a good engine, chassis, or battery ground (Black Wire). A 3 AMP automotive type fuse is recommended for the +12V connection.
RPM Signal Input: Connects to the negative terminal of a standard ignition coil or the "Tach Output" terminal on an Electronic Ignition Module (Green Wire).
Playback Output: Violet Wire (active only during playback) connects to the input (green wire) of a standard AutoMeter tachometer.
Auxiliary Input (Optional): Blue Wire connects to the positive terminal of a Trans-Brake or Line Lock Solenoid, Brake Light Switch, Clutch Switch, or a dedicated Remote Start Switch (normally open, momentary closed). This input is used to initiate "Preset" mode for recording.
Record Time: 80 seconds maximum.
Short Shift Protection: Provides an automatic advance to the next shift point if the engine drops 450 RPM or more below the current shift point setting.
Ignition Pulse Settings (PPR): User-configurable for various engine and ignition types, with available settings of 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, and 6 pulses per revolution.

Usage Features:

Menu Navigation: Accessed via the MODE (+) button, with EXIT (-) to return to real-time display.
Record Mode: Initiated by applying +12V to the Blue wire (entering "Preset" mode), then removing the +12V. Recording is indicated by a constantly lit right-most decimal indicator.
Playback Mode: Accessed from the menu, allowing review of recorded runs at 1/3 real-time speed. Rewind and fast-forward functions are available.
Shift Point Setting: Users can set multiple shift points (SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4) and a Launch RPM (SP5). Settings are adjusted using MODE (+) and EXIT (-) buttons, with single presses for 10 RPM increments and push-and-hold for faster scrolling.
Launch Lite Setting: Configurable for precise launch RPM, with the shift light indicating when RPM is within +/-100 RPM of the set point.
Shift Light Color Set: Allows selection of shift light color from a range of options (White, Red, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Magenta).
Progressive Shift Light Set: Enables a color-change and blink feature to alert drivers of approaching shift points (PSL 1, PSL 2) and over-rev situations (PSL 3). These points are set as percentages of the main shift point.
Brightness Control (Day/Night Dimming): Press and hold MENU (+) for 2 seconds to toggle between "Hi" (daytime) and "Lo" (nighttime) brightness levels.
Shift Light Brightness Set (L LV): Allows separate adjustment of "Lo" (dim) and "Hi" (bright) brightness levels for the shift light.
Remove RPM Display: Press and hold ENTER for 2 seconds from "Tach Mode" to toggle the digital RPM display on/off, leaving only the shift light and "Preset/Record" indicator active.
Launch RPM Quick Set: While in "Tach Mode" with the engine running, raise RPM to the desired launch point and press ENTER to quickly set the Launch Light Setting.
Pulse Per Revolution Set (PPR): Calibrates the gauge to the engine and ignition type by selecting the correct number of pulses per crank revolution.

Maintenance Features:

Warranty: AutoMeter Products, Inc. provides a 12-month limited warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for products purchased from an Authorized AutoMeter Reseller.
