Overview

The AVANTREK Macrover 100 is a fat-tire electric bike designed for various riding conditions, offering both pedal-assist and pure electric modes. This user manual provides comprehensive information on its assembly, operation, maintenance, and safety guidelines.

Function Description

The AVANTREK Macrover 100 functions as an electric bicycle, offering three distinct riding modes: All Electric, Pedal Assisted, and Regular Bike. In All Electric mode, the bike is powered solely by the motor, with speed adjustable via the throttle. Pedal Assisted mode combines human pedaling with motor assistance, enhancing efficiency and range. Regular Bike mode allows the user to pedal without any electrical assistance, functioning like a traditional bicycle. The bike is equipped with a 500W motor and a 36V 13Ah battery, providing a balance of power and endurance for diverse terrains. Its fat tires are designed for all-terrain or street use, offering stability and grip.

The bike features an LCD display for monitoring battery level, speed, pedal assist level, and travel distance. It includes disc brakes for reliable stopping power and a quick-release mechanism for the front wheel and seat post for convenience. The frame is designed to accommodate a removable battery, which can be charged both on and off the bike.

Usage Features

The Macrover 100 is designed for user-friendly operation. Key assembly steps include adjusting the stem, installing the handlebar, front wheel, rear derailleur protecting rack, pedals, saddle, battery, and front/rear reflectors. The handlebar can be rotated 180 degrees for adjustment, and the stem bolts must be securely fastened. The front wheel installation requires careful attention to the disc brake and ensuring the quick release nut is tightened with the small spring heads facing the center. Pedals are marked 'L' and 'R' for correct installation, with the left pedal tightened counter-clockwise and the right pedal clockwise. The saddle height is adjustable, but users must ensure the seat post is not raised above the "minimum insert" line for safety.

To operate the eBike, the battery switch on the top right of the battery case must be turned on to activate the electrical system. The LCD display is powered on by pressing and holding the 'M' button for 3 seconds. Riding modes are selected via the throttle for All Electric mode or by pedaling for Pedal Assisted mode, with speed levels from 1 to 5. The gear lever and gear button allow for switching between 3x7 gears. To stop, the throttle should be released, and brake levers squeezed.

Safety is emphasized, with recommendations to always wear a helmet and frequently check tire pressures (1.4 bar / 20 psi). The manual warns against charging the eBike if the charger or power outlet is wet, and advises against drinking and riding. Only the AVANTREK supplied charger should be used. Users are also reminded to observe all traffic regulations and applicable laws.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Macrover 100.

  • Seat Post: If the quick release becomes stiff, lubricate the rotational pivot point with thin oil.
  • Chain Wear: Keep the chain and all moving parts lubricated, especially after washing or riding in wet weather.
  • Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure twice a month, maintaining 1.4 bar (20 psi) to prevent reduced range, increased tire wear, punctures, and compromised steering.
  • Mechanical Brakes: If braking power diminishes, adjust the brake cable by turning the adjustment bolt near the brake lever. If this doesn't resolve the issue, further inspection is needed.
  • Squeaking Brakes: Clean the rotor thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove oil or residue. If pads are glazed, file them down evenly with a metal file. Pads can be removed by unscrewing the pinch bolt and gently pushing them out. After filing, re-insert pads and firmly re-tighten the pinch bolt. Worn-out pads should be replaced by a local bike mechanic.
  • Cleaning: The eBike is rain and splash-proof, but electrical components should not be submerged. Use soap and water for washing, and rinse with a low-pressure garden hose, avoiding direct spray into the motor, pivot points, or bearing areas (headset, bottom bracket, hubs). Never use a high-pressure water hose. Dry the bike and its components after every wet ride to prevent corrosion.
  • Battery: Do not open the casings of the battery, motor, or controller, as this voids the warranty and can be dangerous. For problems, contact customer service or a local bike shop.
  • Storage: Fully charge the battery before long-term storage to prevent over-discharge. If storing for more than a month, discharge and recharge the battery at least once a month. Store the bike in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (below 0°C/32°F or above 35°C/95°F for the battery). Avoid dusty environments.
  • Disposal: The product and its lithium-ion battery must not be disposed of with household trash, by incineration, or landfilling. Improper disposal can lead to serious injury or environmental harm. Dispose of the entire unit at an e-waste recycling center or facility, following local regulations and laws.

The warranty covers manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of original purchase for the battery and components (stem, handlebar, seat post, saddle, brakes, cables, chain, rims, spokes, wheel hub, cassette, derailleur, motor, throttle, controller, kickstand, and reflectors). It does not cover normal wear and tear, damages from accidents, misuse, neglect, abuse, commercial use, improper assembly, unauthorized modifications, or attempted repairs by unauthorized personnel.
