Periodic Maintenance and Adjustment 8-28
check the air inlet to the air filter case for
obstructions. Check the air filter
element rubber joint to the fuel system and
manifold fittings securely to avoid the
possibility of unfiltered air entering the
engine.
CAUTION:
Never operate the engine with the air filter
element removed. This will allow unfiltered
air to enter, causing rapid engine wear and
possible engine damage. Additionally,
operation without the air filter element will
affect performance with subsequent poor
performance and possible engine
overheating.
Check fuel line and fuel filter
CAUTION:
Be sure to stop the engine and remove the
key. Check the fuel lines periodically. The
fuel lines are subject to wear and old fuel
may leak onto a running engine which may
cause a fire.
The fuel line connections should be checked
annually or every 100 service hours
whichever comes first. The fuel line is made
of rubber and wears regardless of service
period.
1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and
raise the cargo bed.
2. If the fuel line and clamps are damaged
or deteriorated, replace them.
3. Check fuel filter if it is clogged by debris
or contaminated with water replace it.
