The Aysix Model 2000CE Process Analyzer is a two-channel, microprocessor-based instrument designed for continuous measurement of dissolved oxygen (DO) and/or suspended solids (SS) in mixed liquor aeration basins, particularly in wastewater treatment plants. Its design emphasizes flexibility and ease of use, allowing it to operate with various Aysix sensors. The analyzer is housed in a NEMA 4X enclosure, suitable for outdoor mounting. For environments where temperatures may drop below 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 degrees Celsius) for extended periods, an optional automatic heater assembly is recommended.
Function Description:
The Model 2000CE Process Analyzer continuously monitors and displays measurement values from connected sensors. It supports two channels, allowing for simultaneous measurement of different parameters or redundant measurements of the same parameter. The analyzer provides analog and relay outputs based on current conditions and programmed functions. It also features Modbus (RS-485) communication for digital output.
Important Technical Specifications:
Model 10 Optical Dissolved Oxygen Sensor:
- Measurement Principle: Optical sensor measuring fluorescence and quenching reactions of a ruthenium complex immobilized in a sol-gel matrix.
- Measurement Range & Resolution:
- PPM and mg/l mode: 0.00 to 3.99 (0.01 resolution); 4.0 to 20.0 (0.1 resolution).
- %SAT mode: 0.0 to 99.9%SAT (0.1%SAT resolution); 100 to 400%SAT (1%SAT resolution).
- Temperature Measurement: 0.0 to 50.0 degrees Celsius (0.1 degree Celsius increments) or 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degree Fahrenheit increments).
- Self-Cleaning: Incorporates self-cleaning optics via air or water jet.
- Calibration: Factory-calibrated; recalibration is infrequent (6 months to 2 years depending on conditions) and not recommended at startup. Calibration to a known reference is the preferred method. Sensor slope adjustment is generally not recommended without factory consultation.
- Salinity Correction: Adjustable from 0 to 45 ppt with 1 ppt resolution.
- Display Mode: Can display dissolved oxygen in PPM or %SAT.
Model 15 TSS Sensor (Suspended Solids):
- Measurement Principle: Single gap light absorption using an infrared emitter. Compensates for color effects and emitter variations due to temperature by measuring source brightness.
- Measurement Range: 0 to 30,000 mg/l (medium ranges, typical for aeration basins).
- Accuracy & Repeatability: +/- 5% of current reading or +/- 100 mg/l (whichever is greater) for accuracy; +/- 1% of current reading or +/- 20 mg/l (whichever is greater) for repeatability.
- Self-Cleaning: Incorporates self-cleaning optics via air or water jet.
- Calibration: Requires zeroing in clean water, followed by a "snapshot" of process water, and then span calibration using a laboratory analysis of the snapshot sample. Frequent recalibration is not necessary (every six months is adequate). Synthetic laboratory standards are not recommended for span calibration.
Model 15L TSS Sensor (Suspended Solids):
- Measurement Range: 0 to 1500 mg/l (low ranges, typical for effluent streams).
- Accuracy & Repeatability: +/- 5% of current reading or +/- 2 mg/l (whichever is greater) for accuracy; +/- 1% of current reading or +/- 2 mg/l (whichever is greater) for repeatability.
- Other features: Same as Model 15 TSS Sensor.
General Analyzer Specifications:
- Analog Outputs: Two isolated 4-20mA or 0-20mA signals, capable of driving 600 ohms. Programmable for full scale, min scale, and fail mode (hold last good reading, 0/4mA, or 20mA). Analog 2 can also output Channel 1's temperature if a DO sensor is connected to Channel 1.
- Digital Output: Modbus (RS-485) communication, three-wire signal (X+, X-, X COM). Electrically isolated. Configurable communication address and baud rate.
- Relay Outputs:
- Two independent programmable set point control relays (Form-C, 10/6 amps resistive load at 125/250 VAC) for each channel. Configurable for operation mode (low/high setpoint), ON/OFF setpoints, and fail mode.
- Two Form-A relays (10/6 amps resistive load at 125/250 VAC) for jet clean function.
- Relay 3 has ALARM, CA2 CLEAN, and SPECIAL modes. ALARM mode de-energizes on error. CA2 CLEAN mode is for Model CA2 compressor. SPECIAL mode is for customer-supplied air/water with one or two solenoid valves, or CA1 compressor for both sensors.
- Power: Configurable for 115 volts or 230 volts via switch S4 on the circuit board.
- Dampening: Adjustable parameter to control the amount of averaging, specified in seconds for a stabilized reading.
- Passcode: Three-digit passcode to limit access to sensor setup parameters.
Usage Features:
- Run Mode: Normal operating mode, entered upon power-up. Continuously updates display with measurement values, analog outputs, and relay states. Displays error/alarm conditions in plain English.
- Main Menu: Accessed via "MENU" key from Run Mode. Options include RUN, SETUP, and TEST.
- Setup Mode: Allows customization of unit operation. Subcategories include RELAYS, ANALOG OUTPUT, MODBUS, SENSOR 1 SETUP, SENSOR 2 SETUP, and CH 2 MODE.
- Clean Mode: Jet clean system controlled by relays 3 and/or 4.
- Clean Schedule: Determines frequency (10 minutes to 24 hours; "0" turns off cleaning).
- Clean Jet Time: Duration of clean cycle (1 to 90 seconds). Channel 1 sensor is cleaned, then Channel 2.
- Clean Recovery Time: Duration the analyzer holds the DO reading after cleaning (default 1 minute).
- Demand Clean: Initiated by pressing "ENTER" in Run Mode; does not affect the normal clean schedule.
- CH 2 Mode: Allows disabling Channel 2 if only one sensor is connected, removing its information from the display.
- Test Mode: Provides 13 basic test functions for troubleshooting, including viewing sensor data (type, serial number, reporting mode, raw data), sensor clock frequency, calibrating analog outputs, testing relays, Modbus communication, and software version.
Maintenance Features:
- Analyzer Exterior: Requires no periodic maintenance beyond occasional cleaning with a soft brush, broom, or low-pressure water rinse. DO NOT use high-pressure water or a pressure washer.
- Sensor Cleaning: The jet clean system normally maintains sensor cleanliness.
- Model 10 D.O. Sensor: In wastewater aeration basins, a jet clean system may not be required. Monthly visual inspection is recommended to ensure the measuring surface is not covered by rags or hair. Rinsing with a water hose is suggested. For high bio-slim and scaling, the integrated jet clean system is recommended. If manual wiping is needed, use a wet cloth, not a brush. Inspection interval should not exceed one year.
- Model 15/15L TSS Sensor: The jet clean system usually suffices. However, periodic manual cleaning is necessary to remove heavy fouling that may impair performance. Frequency varies by application.
Error Messages:
The analyzer displays specific error messages to indicate problems:
- SENSOR NOT RESPONDING: No data from sensor (improper connection, faulty sensor/analyzer electronics).
- SENSOR ERROR (Model 10 only): Faulty sensor electronics.
- Zero Sensor (Model 15/15L only): Zero calibration required (new/different sensor, current counts > 5% of previous stored zero value).
- Ambient Error (Model 15/15L only): Sensor exposed to too much ambient light (direct sunlight) or faulty sensor LED.
