Overview

This document describes the "City Fix" child car seat, designed for children in groups I, II, and III, covering a weight range of 9-36 kg. The manual provides instructions in multiple languages, including German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, and Polish.

Function Description

The City Fix is a child safety seat designed to secure children in a vehicle. It can be used in different configurations depending on the child's weight and the vehicle's belt system. For Group I (9-18 kg), it utilizes ISOFIX and a top tether anchoring system or a 3-point car belt. For Group II (15-25 kg) and Group III (22-36 kg), it uses a 3-point car belt. The seat is forward-facing only.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Weight Groups: Group I/II/III (9-36 kg)
  • Certification: Tested and certified according to European Standard ECE R44/04. The approval label (sticker on the child safety seat) contains the seal of approval E (in a circle) and the approval number.
  • Installation:
    • Group I (9-18 kg): ISOFIX and Top Tether anchoring systems or 3-point car belt.
    • Group II/III (15-36 kg): 3-point car belt.
  • Forward-facing only: The product must only be used on a forward-facing seat.
  • Vehicle Seat Compatibility: Can be used on either the front or back seat, though installation on the back seat is recommended. Compatible with vehicle seats equipped with a 3-point belt. Not to be used with 2-point belts or on passenger seats with a front airbag.
  • Recommended Lifespan: Not to be used more than 5 years from the date of production, as material properties may deteriorate.

Usage Features

  • Baby Insert: Included for babies weighing less than 15 kg, providing extra comfort and support.
  • Harness System (5-point): Used for Group I (9-18 kg). Features shoulder pads, buckle pads, and an adjusting device for tightening.
    • Harness Adjustment: Straps can be loosened by pressing a release button and pulling.
    • Headrest Adjustment: The headrest can be set at five different heights in Group I mode (with shoulder belt axles in place) and five additional positions in Group II/III mode (once shoulder belt axles and harness straps are removed). Adjusted by pressing a button on the headrest handle.
    • Reclining Adjustment: Stepless adjustment via a front knob. Rotate clockwise to increase recline, counter-clockwise to reduce.
  • 3-point Car Belt System: Used for Group II/III (15-36 kg) after removing the 5-point harness system. The shoulder belt is routed through a guide under the headrest, and the car belt is fastened with an audible "click."
  • ISOFIX Connectors: For Group I installation, these connectors are pushed directly into vehicle anchorages until an audible "click" is heard. A release button allows for forward movement.
  • Top Tether Strap: For Group I installation, this strap is pulled out and hooked onto a user-ready tether anchorage behind the vehicle seat. A green mark indicates correct tightening.
  • Safety Checklists: Provided to ensure correct installation and securing of the child. Key points include ensuring belts are snug but comfortable, correctly adjusted, not twisted, and buckle tongues are engaged.
  • Protection for Vehicle Occupants: Emphasizes securing backrests, heavy objects, and all persons in the vehicle. The child seat itself must always be secured, even when empty.
  • Vehicle Seat Protection: Suggests placing a blanket or towel under the child seat to prevent wear marks on sensitive vehicle seat materials.

Maintenance Features

  • Cover Removal: The seat cover can be removed by unzipping it at the bottom, pulling it around the adjusting device, and detaching it from the holders. The 5-point harness system, headrest cover, and shell cover can then be removed.
  • Cover Cleaning: The cover can be machine washed with a mild detergent on a delicate cycle at 30 °C. Washing instructions on the label should be followed. Avoid spinning and tumble drying to prevent fading or fabric separation from padding.
  • Plastic Parts Cleaning: Can be cleaned with soapy water. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents (e.g., solvents).
  • Harness System Cleaning: Can be removed and washed in lukewarm soapy water.
  • Important Cleaning Note: Never remove the buckle tongues from the straps.
  • No Lubrication: Moving parts of the car seat should not be lubricated.
  • Original Cover: Only original seat covers should be used, as the cover contributes to the safety of the seat. Replacement covers are available from retailers. The child seat must not be used without its cover.
