Theheatercontrolsystemconsistsofaheatercontrolpanelandacombination
temperature/waterlevelsensor.Thestainlesssteelsensorprobewith1/2”NPTmounting
ttinghasanon/offrelayoutputthatde-energizestheheaterswheneverthebasinwater
temperatureisabove45°F(7.2°C),orwheneverthesensorprobeisnotfullysubmersed.
Thecontrolpanelenclosureissuitableforoutdooruse.
Thecontrolsystemutilizesacombinationtemperature/lowwaterlevelcontrolsensor,
whichispoweredbyatransformerinthecontrolpanel.Whenthesensorprovidesasignal
tothecontrolpanel,thepanelsendsacontrolvoltagetothemagneticcontactors.When
energized,themagneticcontactorssupplylinevoltagetotheheaters.Annuallyinspectthe
heatercontrolsystempriortotheriskofreachingfreezingoperatingconditions.
Operation
Ensurethattheelementiscompletelysubmergedbeforeenergizingthemaindisconnect.
Thecombinationtemperature/lowlevelcontrolispresettoenergizetheheaterat40°F
(4.5°C),butwillnotenergizeifthewaterlevelistooloworifthewatertemperatureis
above45°F(7.2°C).
Testing the heater when water temperatures are above 45°F (7.2°C):
• Disconnecttheheatercontrolpanelandtagoutthecircuit.
• Removetheheatercontrolpanelcover.
• RemovethesensorwiresconnectedtoterminalsT1andT2onthecombination
temperature/lowlevelcontrolandisolatethem.
• Installthe1.5Kohmtestresistorsuppliedwiththeheatercontrolpanel(inbagon
outsideofcover)acrossterminalsT1andT2.
• Installtheheatercontrolpanelcover.
• Energizethesystemandlistenforthecontactorclosing.
• Afteroperation,de-energizethecircuit,disconnecttheheatercontrolpanel,andtag
outthecircuit.
• Removetheresistorandplaceitbackinthestoragebag.Checkallconnections,
reconnectsensorwiresperthewiringdiagramtoterminalsT1andT2,replacethe
cover,andplacethesystembackinservice.
Operation when the sensor probe is encased in ice:
• Disconnecttheheatercontrolpanelandtagoutthecircuit.
• Removetheheatercontrolpanelcover.
• InstallajumperwireacrossterminalsG1andG2onthecombinationtemperature/low
levelcontrolcircuitboard.
• Installtheheatercontrolpanelcover.
• Energizethesystemandlistenforthecontactorclosing.
• Operatethesystemuntiltheiceismeltedaroundtheprobe.
• Afteroperation,de-energizethecircuit,disconnecttheheatercontrolpanel,andtag
outthecircuit.
• Removethejumper,checkallconnections,replacethecover,andplacethesystem
backinservice.

Disconnect the electrical service
of the source and tag the circuit
out before servicing or replacing
components.
ATTENTION: Do not operate the
system unattended or for extended
periods of time during test
mode (resistor across terminals
T1 and T2). Operation in water
temperatures above 45°F (7.2°C)
could damage the unit.
ATTENTION: Do not operate the

periods of time with terminals
G1-G2 jumpered. A low liquid level
condition could occur, and the
system will not shut off which could
result in damage to the heater and
unit.
