Overview

This document is the owner's manual for an Outdoor LP Gas Barbecue Grill, Model No. GBC1703W-C, manufactured by RevoAce Inc. Limited.

Function Description

The device is an outdoor LP (Liquid Propane) gas barbecue grill designed for residential use only. It is intended for cooking food outdoors using liquid propane gas. The grill features two burners and an igniter for lighting. It includes a lid, warming rack, cooking grids, and side shelves for convenience during cooking. The grill is designed for vapor withdrawal from the LP gas cylinder and is equipped with an overfilling prevention device (OPD) for safety.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model Number: GBC1703W-C
  • Fuel Type: Liquid Propane (LP) gas only. Conversion to natural gas is dangerous and voids the warranty.
  • LP Gas Cylinder Requirements:
    • Must be constructed and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Specifications for LP-gas Cylinders or National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-B339.
    • Must be arranged for vapor withdrawal.
    • Must have a listed overfilling prevention device (OPD).
    • Must have a cylinder connection device compatible with outdoor cooking appliances.
    • Must have a cylinder collar to protect the cylinder valve.
    • Never use a damaged, dented, or rusted cylinder.
    • Storage: Outdoors, out of reach of children, not in a building or enclosed area, and temperatures not exceeding 125°F.
    • Filling: Never fill beyond 80 percent full.
  • Inlet Pressure: 11 inches water column.
  • Minimum Clearance to Combustible Construction: 36 inches (91.4 cm) from sides and back.
  • LP Gas Tank Size: Standard grill size (20 lb / 9 Kg) with Acme Type 1 external threaded valve connection.
  • Burners: Two burners.
  • Assembly Time: Approximately one hour.

Usage Features

  • Outdoor Use Only: Must not be used in buildings, garages, or any enclosed areas.
  • Clearance: Maintain a minimum of ten feet (3.05 m) from walls, structures, or buildings during operation.
  • Ignition: Features an igniter button for quick lighting. If the igniter fails, a lighting rod (included) can be used with a lit match to light the burners.
  • Control: Two control knobs allow adjustment of flame height.
  • First Use: Recommended to operate the grill for at least 15 minutes on HIGH with the lid closed to "heat clean" internal parts and dissipate odors.
  • Flare-up Control: Trimming excess fat from meats, cooking high-fat meats on LOW setting or indirectly, and ensuring proper grease drainage can minimize flare-ups. In case of a grease fire, turn control knobs to OFF, close the LP gas tank valve, and open the lid. Do NOT use water on a grease fire.
  • Unattended Operation: Never operate or preheat the appliance unattended.
  • Stability: Always place the grill on a hard, non-combustible, level surface.
  • Safety Warnings: Numerous warnings are provided throughout the manual, emphasizing safe assembly, operation, and LP gas handling to prevent fire, explosion, personal injury, or property damage. These include warnings against storing flammable liquids near the grill, not obstructing airflow, checking for insect nests in burner/venturi tubes, and proper LP gas tank connection/disconnection procedures.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning and Inspection: The grill should be thoroughly cleaned and inspected on a regular basis, especially before each use.
  • Hose Inspection: Inspect the regulator and hose assembly before each use for abrasion, wear, cuts, or leaks. Replace if damaged.
  • Burner Cleaning:
    • Disconnect the LP gas tank.
    • Remove cooking grids and heat plates.
    • Remove burners by fasteners.
    • Lift burners from the gas valve orifice.
    • Disconnect wire from spark electrode.
    • Clean venturi with a small bottle brush or compressed air.
    • Remove food residue and dirt from the burner surface.
    • Clean clogged ports with a stiff wire.
    • Inspect burners for damage and replace if necessary.
    • Re-install burners, ensuring proper alignment with the gas valve orifice and spark electrode.
  • Surface Cleaning: Wipe surfaces with mild dishwashing detergent or baking soda mixed with water. For stubborn areas, use a citrus-based degreaser and a nylon scrubbing brush. Rinse clean and air dry. Abrasive cleaners and oven cleaner should not be used.
  • Leak Testing: Perform a leak test before lighting the grill and each time the LP gas cylinder is connected for use. Use a solution of one part liquid dishwashing soap with three parts water. Check for bubbles at all connections.
  • Storage:
    • Turn off LP gas tank valve and control knobs.
    • Disconnect the LP gas tank and store it outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, with the protective cap cover installed.
    • Clean all surfaces.
    • Lightly coat burners and cooking grids with cooking oil to prevent rusting.
    • If storing indoors, disconnect the LP tank and store the grill in a cool, dry place, covered with a grill cover.
    • If storing outdoors, cover the grill with a grill cover for weather protection.
  • Parts: Only use RevoAce Inc. Limited factory-authorized parts.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A comprehensive troubleshooting section is provided to address common issues such as burners not lighting, sudden drops in gas flow, irregular flame patterns, yellow/orange flames, flame going out, flare-ups, persistent grease fires, and flashback.
