Why is Backyard Grill flame yellow or orange?
    • C
      Crystal JacksonAug 16, 2025
If the flame on your Backyard Grill is yellow or orange, it might be due to residual manufacturing oils on a new burner. Try burning the grill for 15 minutes on high with the lid closed. Other possible causes include spider webs or insect nests in the venturi (clean the venturi), food residue or grease on the burners (clean the burners), or poor alignment of the valve to the burner/venturi tube (ensure proper engagement).

What to do if Backyard GBC1707WT-C has flare-up?
    • W
      Wendy NguyenAug 19, 2025
Flare-ups in your Backyard Grill are often due to grease buildup, excess fat in the meat, or excessive cooking temperature. To resolve this: * Remove and clean all grill parts. * Trim fat from meat before grilling. * Adjust to a lower cooking temperature.

What to do if Backyard Grill has persistent grease fire?
    • D
      Dawn BookerAug 26, 2025
If your Backyard Grill has a persistent grease fire, it's likely due to grease trapped by food buildup around the burner system. Here's what to do: 1. Turn control knobs to “ OFF”. 2. If using LP, turn the LP gas tank valve to “CLOSED”. If using NG, turn the natural gas main valve to “OFF”. 3. Leave the lid closed and let the fire burn out. 4. After the grill cools, remove and clean all parts.

Why Backyard Grill flame goes out?
    • R
      Roger HarrisAug 28, 2025
The flame on your Backyard Grill might be going out due to high or gusting winds or being low on LP Gas. Avoid using the grill in high winds. If you're low on LP Gas, exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank.

What to do if Backyard Grill burner will not light with match?
    • D
      David SalinasAug 31, 2025
If the burner on your Backyard Grill won't light with a match, it could be due to no gas flow, a low or empty LP gas tank, a gas leak, or other obstructions. If there's no gas flow, check if the LP gas tank is empty and exchange, refill, or replace it if needed. For NG, ensure the regulator and main line are securely attached and the main valve is open. Also, check for a gas leak. Furthermore, make sure the coupling nut and regulator are fully connected. Clear any obstruction of gas flow, check for bent or kinked hoses, reengage the burner to the valve if disengaged, clean the burner/venturi tube for spider webs or insect nests, and clean burner ports if clogged or blocked.

Why Backyard GBC1707WT-C Grill has sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height?
    • J
      jyoungSep 3, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height in your Backyard Grill can be due to several reasons. If you're using LP, you might be out of gas, so exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank. If you're using NG, there might be no main line pressure, so call your natural gas provider to inspect the line. Also, the overfilling prevention device may have been activated. To reset it, turn control knobs to “ OFF”, wait 30 seconds, and light the grill. If flames are still too low: 1. Turn control knob(s) “ OFF”. 2. Turn LP gas tank valve to “CLOSED”. 3. Disconnect regulator. 4. Turn control knobs to (HIGH). 5. Wait 1 minute. 6. Turn control knobs to “ OFF”. 7. Reconnect regulator and leak check connections, being careful not to fully open valve. 8. Light grill.

    • L
      Laura BowersSep 12, 2025

What to do if Backyard Grill burner will not light using ignitor?
    • C
      Christopher JonesNov 21, 2025
If the burner on your Backyard Grill won't light using the ignitor, it could be due to several reasons. First, make sure the LP gas tank valve is open or the NG main valve is open. If using LP, ensure the regulator is securely attached to the LP gas tank. For NG, check that the regulator and NG main line are securely attached. Also, the LP gas tank might be low or empty, so exchange, refill, or replace it. A gas leak could also be the cause; in that case, turn off the gas, wait 5 minutes, and check for leaks. Other potential causes include wires or the electrode being covered with cooking residue (clean with rubbing alcohol), the electrode and burners being wet (wipe dry), a cracked or broken electrode (replace it), a loose or disconnected wire (reconnect or replace the electrode/wire asse...
