Why is the entire hydraulic system not working on my Barreto Tiller?
    • I
      ijenningsJul 28, 2025
If the entire hydraulic system of your Barreto Tiller isn't working and the engine isn't under load, first check the clutch cable. If it's broken, replace it. If not, remove any slack and adjust it to allow for 7/16” to 1/2" movement at the actuator lever pin. Also, ensure the hydraulic oil tank is filled to the center of the sight glass. Finally, inspect the hydraulic pump-to-engine coupler for wear; replace both coupler halves and the rubber spider if needed.

What to do if my Barreto Y Series engine lugs down and wheels and tines don't turn?
    • M
      Mr. David GreeneAug 2, 2025
If your Barreto Tiller's engine lugs down or dies and neither the wheels nor tines turn, first, shut off the engine and check for rocks or other obstructions blocking the tines and remove them. Also, check the tine shaft for wire, vines, or grass, especially at the ends, and remove any debris. If the tilling depth is too great for the soil conditions, lower the depth bar to raise the tines. Ensure the outboard tine shaft bearings are lubricated; replace them if needed. Refer to the engine manual to ensure the engine is properly tuned and maintained. If tilling on hills, level the tiller and check the engine oil level, fill if required, and see the engine manual. Also, consult the engine manual if the engine is losing power due to wear.

Why is there excessive foaming of hydraulic oil from the vent hose of my Barreto Y Series?
    • J
      James HolmesAug 7, 2025
If you notice excessive foaming of hydraulic oil from the vent hose on your Barreto Tiller, first verify that the hydraulic oil being used has anti-foaming additives. Next, inspect and tighten all fittings on the intake side of the pump to ensure the pump isn't sucking air. If the problem persists, the hydraulic pump may be faulty and require rebuilding or replacement.

How to fix oil leaks in the hydraulic system of my Barreto Tiller?
    • J
      Jason ChapmanAug 12, 2025
If you observe oil leaks in the hydraulic system of your Barreto Tiller, start by tightening any loose fittings. If leaks persist, inspect the hoses for wear or breakage and replace them as necessary. If you notice oil around the tine motor shaft, inspect the tine motor for a leaking shaft seal and consider rebuilding or replacing the motor.

What to do if the tines fail to rotate on my Barreto Tiller, but the wheels still drive?
    • B
      Beverly HoltAug 17, 2025
If the tines on your Barreto Tiller fail to rotate but the wheels drive, first check the clutch cable. Remove any slack and adjust it for 7/16” to 1/2" movement at the actuator lever pin. If the issue continues, the tine motor may be worn and require rebuilding or replacement.

    • C
      Christopher WilliamsAug 22, 2025
If the wheels on your Barreto Tiller fail to turn but the tines rotate, it's possible the wheel axle keys have been sheared or removed. Replace the keys to resolve this issue.
