The BARTEC TECHNOR BHB 125/150 series is a range of explosion-proof sounders, horns, and beacons designed for use in hazardous environments. These devices are certified according to EN/IEC 60079-0, EN/IEC 60079-1, and EN/IEC 60079-31 standards, making them suitable for installation in Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas with gas groups IIA, IIB, and IIC, and temperature classifications from T4 to T6. Their robust construction and certification make them particularly well-suited for applications in the Oil & Gas, Offshore Platform, Chemical, Petrochemical, Refinery, and Marine industries.
Function Description:
The BHB 125/150 series offers a versatile alarm and warning solution. Users can choose between single or combination types, integrating a sounder, loudspeaker, and beacon into a single unit. This unique 3-in-1 design allows for comprehensive signaling capabilities. The devices are capable of emitting four stages of alarm tones, ranging from less critical (stage 1) to most critical (stage 4), with 64 selectable tones that can be preset during installation. In addition to audible alarms, the units can also provide four stages of alarm light, enhancing their effectiveness in various scenarios.

- Ingress Protection (IP) Rating: To maintain the IP rating, SS316L is recommended for cable glands and stopping plugs.
- Cable Gland Entries: Only cable glands approved for Ex 'd' applications, suitable for the cable type, and meeting EN 60079-14 requirements must be used. For high ambient temperatures (over +40°C), heat-resisting cable glands with a rated service temperature of at least 95°C are required. Unused entries must be closed with an Ex 'd' flameproof blanking plug.
- End of Line Monitoring: An end-of-line monitoring diode or resistor can be connected across the 24V+ and 0 terminals. If a resistor is used, it must have a maximum resistance of 3k ohms and a minimum wattage of 0.5 Watts, or a minimum resistance of 1.2k ohms and a maximum wattage of 2 Watts.
Usage Features:
- Mounting:
- Single Unit: Mounted via a 'U' shaped stainless steel bracket using one 12mm diameter and two 8.5mm diameter bolt holes. Alignment can be adjusted by loosening two M8 screws. The sounder should be positioned to prevent dust, debris, or water from entering the horn.
- Combined Unit: Mounted on a vertical surface using a stainless steel mounting plate. Fixing holes are designed for M8 allen screws (9mm diameter). Stainless steel fasteners are recommended.
- Wiring: Cable connections are made to terminal blocks on the electronic PCB assembly within the flameproof enclosure. For single units, this is in the Beacon Component; for combined units, it can be in the Beacon Component, Push Button, or Junction Box in the bottom unit. All cables and cores should be fully identified (2.0 to 2.5mm² cable recommended).
- Alarm Stages (DC Type):
- Stage 1: Apply power supply to 0/COM and +24V.
- Stage 2: Apply power supply to 0/COM, +24V, and connect S1 to 0/COM.
- Stage 3: Apply power supply to 0/COM, +24V, and connect S2 to 0/COM.
- Stage 4: Apply power supply to 0/COM, +24V, and connect S1, S2 to 0/COM.
- Tone Selection: The sounder offers 64 selectable tones for the 1st stage alarm. Four stages of alarm tones can be preset using DIP switches on the Sounder PCB. The tone selection table (Table 1) provides binary codes for each tone.
- Sounder Volume Control: The output volume of the sounder can be adjusted using the potentiometer-VR1 on the PCB. For maximum output, the potentiometer should be set to the fully clockwise position.
- LED Beacon Status and Flashing Frequency Adjustment:
- The LED Beacon provides flashing and rotary status (including steady light).
- A 2-binary code DIP switch on the LED Beacon PCB selects the flashing or rotary status.
- A potentiometer on the LED Beacon PCB (Fig. 4) adjusts the frequency. For the fastest frequency, the potentiometer should be set to the fully clockwise position.
- LED Status Selection (DIP Switch ON=1, OFF=0; S1/S2 ON=Connect with 0/COM, OFF=Disconnect with 0/COM):
- Alarm Stage 1 (S1=OFF, S2=OFF): Steady light (0,0), Slow flash 45-80 times/min (0,1), Steady light (1,0), Slow rotary 45-80 times/min (1,1).
- Alarm Stage 2 (S1=ON, S2=OFF): Medium flash 60-95 times/min (0,0), Medium flash 60-95 times/min (0,1), Slow rotary 60-95 times/min (1,0), Slow rotary 60-95 times/min (1,1).
- Alarm Stage 3 (S1=OFF, S2=ON): Fast flash 75-110 times/min (0,0), Fast flash 75-110 times/min (0,1), Slow rotary 75-110 times/min (1,0), Slow rotary 75-110 times/min (1,1).
- Alarm Stage 4 (S1=ON, S2=ON): Steady light (0,0), Steady light (0,1), Steady light (1,0), Steady light (1,1).

Maintenance Features:
- General Maintenance: The product requires little to no maintenance during its working life. The SS316 material is resistant to most acids, alkalis, and chemicals.
- Inspection: Visual inspection is recommended if abnormal or unusual environmental conditions occur (e.g., due to an accident).
- Cleaning: To prevent electrostatic charge build-up, only the exterior of the product should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
- Spare Parts: Spare parts can be supplied by BARTEC TECHNOR Company.
- Warranty: If any failure occurs that is not caused by human factors, the product can be returned to BARTEC TECHNOR for free repair or replacement during the warranty period.
- End Cover Removal (Beacon Component): To access internal components, unscrew the 4 (BHB 125) or 6 (BHB 150) M5 retained hex socket head screws on the Beacon Component. The cover will then hang on the retaining wire strap. Before replacing the cover, ensure flameproof joints are clean and undamaged, and the gasket is properly retained in its groove.
- Safety Precaution for Cover Removal: Before removing the cover, ensure the power to the product is isolated. Gently twist the cover clockwise and anti-clockwise while pulling away from the base until it comes off. Replace the cover in a similar reverse manner.
