3. HID key delay (in ms) 30 – 100 (Default: 60 milliseconds)
4. As an overview, the parameters are shown in addition behind the
device name in the list "paired device" in short form: (BRL xxms,
HID xxms, HID table table.U2H)
Important:
Please follow the rules below, to ensure that the application of the
connected device receives the characters correctly, which are generated
by the HID key simulation and transferred via Bluetooth.
1. The app on the connected device must be in foreground and
capable of receiving characters, i.e. edit box. (Same when using
braille key simulation)
2. The HID table, which you select on VarioUltra in menu settings >
braille display mode > key simulation must match to the connected
device type (apple iOS or Android) and the used language
(English, German etc.) Therefore, different tables are available
and the file names give the relevant information. i.e.
Apple_US.U2H when an iOS device is connected and the
language on both devices is English.
3. The HID table must match to the used language setting of the
connected device (English, German etc.) The language setting
means hte keyboard layout setting. Therefore, different tables are
available and the file names give the relevant information. i.e.
Apple_US.U2H or Android_US.U2H when the English keyboard
layout is used.
4. If the language mismatch i.e. when you select Apple_US.U2H but
your connected iOS device has French language and French
keyboard layout enabled, the characters of the transferred text will
be not correct.
5. Some Android devices differ between the keyboard layout of the
software keyboard, means the virtually shown keyboard, and the
keyboard layout of a hardware keyboard. For the HID key
simulation feature the language setting of the hardware keyboard
layout is relevant.
6. The predefined HID delay of 60 milliseconds had best results in
our experience with iOS and Android devices. With this default
value, no characters get lost when the option of speech feedback
is set to "characters" or "characters and words" in the appropriate
screen reader settings of VoiceOver, TalkBack or VoiceView.
7. If you set the speech feedback to "none" or "words" you can try a
HID delay of 30 or 40 ms with iOS devices, and 40 or 50 ms with
Android devices. But note, a decreased value increases the
transfer speed but with the danger of losing single characters.
