This document is an installation and operating manual for the Beko DVG 695 Double Oven Gas Cooker. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe installation, operation, and maintenance of the appliance.

Function Description:

The Beko DVG 695 is a gas cooker designed for domestic household use, featuring a double oven configuration (top oven/grill and main oven) and a hob with four gas burners. It is intended for cooking food and includes safety features to ensure proper operation and prevent hazards. The cooker incorporates an auto-electric ignition system for all burners and a safety device that prevents gas build-up if a burner fails to light or goes out. A minute minder and a clock are integrated for timing cooking processes.

  • Category: I 2H GB 20 mbar, I 3P GB 37 mbar, I 2H3P 20 mbar and 37 mbar
  • Ventilation Requirements: Room volume up to 5m³ requires 100cm² opening; 5m³ to 10m³ requires 50cm² opening; above 10m³ requires none. In cellar or basement, 65cm² opening is required.

Usage Features:

  • Hob Operation: Features four gas burners with control knobs that require pushing in slightly and turning anti-clockwise to ignite. An ignition button provides a spark for all burners. The glass lid is fitted with a safety device that cuts off the gas supply to the hob burners when closed, restoring it when raised. Users are advised to ensure the glass lid is fully raised before use and that hob controls are off before closing. Flame height should be adjusted to not extend beyond the pan bottom to prevent inefficiency and fire hazards.
  • Grill Operation: The top cavity functions as a grill. The door must be kept open during grilling. The control is turned clockwise to the large flame symbol for grilling. A preheat of 5 minutes is recommended. The grill can be operated at the maximum setting. The grill pan has a detachable handle, and users are warned to use an oven glove as metal parts become very hot.
  • Top Oven Operation: The top cavity can also be used as an oven. The control is turned anti-clockwise to the desired gas mark. A preheat of 10 minutes is recommended. Shelf positions are adjustable. A temperature chart is provided for guidance on cooking times and gas marks for various foods. A "Slow" cooking setting (Gas Mark 'S') is available for low-temperature cooking.
  • Main Oven Operation: The main oven also has adjustable shelf levels. The control is turned anti-clockwise to the desired gas mark. A preheat of 10 minutes is recommended. A temperature chart is provided for guidance on cooking times and gas marks for various foods.
  • Clock/Minute Minder: The cooker features a 24-hour clock display and a minute minder. The time of day is set using "+" and "-" buttons. The minute minder can be set for up to 99 minutes and 50 seconds, with a bleeping sound at the end. The bleeper sound pitch can also be adjusted.
  • Safety in the Home: Emphasizes keeping children away from hot surfaces, using oven gloves, ensuring pan handles are not caught or heated, checking controls are off after use, allowing steam to escape before opening oven doors, selecting correct shelf positions, and not using water to extinguish oil/fat fires. Advises against using round-bottomed woks and storing items above the cooker that children might reach.
  • Food Hygiene: Recommends thorough defrosting and cooking of meat and poultry, ensuring food is piping hot.

Maintenance Features:

  • Care & Cleaning:
    • General: Turn off mains electricity and ensure surfaces are cool before cleaning. Deal with spillages immediately. Avoid biological washing powder, bleach, harsh abrasives, or chemical cleaners on inner panels.
    • Exterior (Painted Surfaces): Clean with a damp cloth; avoid sharp instruments, abrasive cleaners, or detergents.
    • Stainless Steel Surfaces: Use branded stainless steel cleaning materials; avoid abrasive agents.
    • Burners: Pan supports and top burner plate can be cleaned with soapy water. Burner caps and pan supports should be washed with soapy water and rinsed, not in a dishwasher.
    • Hob Surround: Clean with a cloth wrung out in soapy water; stubborn stains can be removed with cream, paste, or liquid cleaner approved by the Vitreous Enamel Development Council.
    • Control Panel: Wipe with a damp cloth and polish with a dry cloth; avoid oven cleaners, aerosol sprays, scouring pads, or abrasive powder on plastic knobs.
    • Grill and Oven Interiors: Clean with a moist, soapy cloth, then with a wet cloth, and allow to dry. Avoid hard brushes, steel pads, or knives. Grill elements should be wiped with a damp cloth to remove fat splashes.
    • Grill and Oven Doors: Wipe outer panel with a cloth wrung out in hot soapy water, then with a clean, wet cloth, and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials.
    • Removable Inner Glass Panels: For models with removable inner glass panels, use a screwdriver to remove washers, carefully remove glass, clean as above (avoiding household detergents, bleach, scouring pads, rust removers), and reinstall.
    • Glass Lid: Clean with warm soapy water and dry with a cotton cloth or paper towel; avoid household detergents, bleach, scouring pads, rust removers, or metal scrapers.
  • Replacing the Oven Lamp: Requires switching off the appliance at the mains, removing the protective glass cover by turning anti-clockwise, and then removing the bulb by turning anti-clockwise. Replacement bulbs can be obtained from DIY or electrical stores.
  • Troubleshooting: Provides guidance on checks to perform if the cooker does not operate (power/gas supply, fuse, control settings). Also explains normal performance characteristics like initial odor/smoke, metal noise, and steam production.
  • Future Transportation: Advises keeping original carton and packaging. If not available, pack the oven in bubble wrap or thick cardboard, ensuring it is transported upright and no items are placed on top.
  • Gas Conversion: Instructions are provided for converting the cooker from natural gas to LPG and vice versa, emphasizing that this must be done by a qualified engineer. This involves replacing gas orifices and adjusting reduced rates of burners.
  • Electrical Connection: Details electrical requirements, including voltage and frequency matching the rating label, connection via a switched and fused socket, and replacement of damaged mains leads by a Beko Authorised Service Agent. Provides instructions for fitting a different plug if needed, including wiring colors and fuse requirements. The ignition system relies on the cooker being plugged into a suitable mains power supply.
  • Stability Chain: The cooker must be secured to the wall or partition behind it using a security chain to prevent tipping.
