buzzingsoundintheirinstrumentswhentheyare
usingcellphones,indicatingthatthecellphone
andhearinginstrumentmaynotbecompatible.
Thecompatibilityofaparticularhearingaidand
cellphonecanbepredictedbyaddingtherating
forthehearingaidimmunitytotheratingforthe
cellphoneemissions(ANSIC63.19-2006American
NationalStandardMethodsofMeasurementof
CompatibilitybetweenWirelessCommunication
DevicesandHearingAids).
Forexample,thesumofahearingaidwitha
ratingof2(M2/T2)andatelephonewitharating
of3(M3/T3)wouldresultinacombinedratingof
5.Accordingtothestandard,anycombinedrating
thatequalsatleast5wouldprovide“normaluse”;
acombinedratingof6orgreaterwouldindicate
“excellentperformance.”
