This document is an owner's manual for a Bestway Flowclear Filter Pump, models 58511E, 58384E, and 58388E. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and safety.
Function Description:
The Bestway Flowclear Filter Pump is designed to circulate and filter water in storable swimming pools, ensuring the water remains clean and clear. It uses a filter cartridge to trap debris and impurities, contributing to better water hygiene. The pump is equipped with a Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter (GFCI) for electrical safety and features a timer function to automate filtration cycles.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Models Covered: 58511E, 58384E, 58388E
- Power Supply: Designed for connection to a grounding-type receptacle.
- GFCI: Integrated Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter for electrical safety.
- Motor: Thermally protected motor.
- Pool Type: Exclusively for use with storable pools; not for permanently-installed pools.
- SOFA (Suction Outlet Fitting Assembly) Specifications:
- Cover part number: F4030
- Service life of the cover: 2 Years
- Cover flow rating: 28 GPM
- Maximum protrusion of cover/grates: 2 inches (51 mm) from the finished pool surface.
- Base Mounting Requirements (Minimum Weight):
- For 330GAL pumps: Base parts must weigh at least 18kg.
- For 530GAL pumps: Base parts must weigh at least 18kg.
- For 1000GAL pumps: Base parts must weigh at least 18kg.
- Storage Temperature: 15°C ~ 40°C (50°F ~ 100°F).
Usage Features:
- Timer Function: The pump includes a timer with LED indicators, where each LED represents 2 hours of working time. Users can adjust the desired run time using the "Set Working Hours Button." Once set, the pump will automatically restart at the same time the following day. In case of a power outage or GFCI unplugging, the running time resets to a 10-hour default.
- GFCI Test Button: A test button is provided on the GFCI. Pushing it should interrupt power, and pushing the reset button should restore power. This allows users to regularly verify the GFCI's functionality.
- Grounding: The pump must be connected to a grounding-type receptacle. The grounding prong should not be removed or modified.
- Storable Pool Compatibility: Specifically designed for storable pools that can be readily disassembled for storage and reassembled.
- Installation: Requires vertical mounting on a solid, level base made of wood or concrete. The base must have specific hole spacing (127mm for 330GAL, 159mm for 530GAL, 166mm for 1000GAL) for securing the pump with bolts and nuts. The base parts must collectively weigh at least 18kg to prevent accidental falling.
- Water Coverage: It is crucial to ensure both the pool's inlet and outlet valves are fully covered by water before operating the filter pump to prevent dry running.
- Location Requirements: The pump should be placed on the same level as the pool's base, in an area with adequate drainage, and easy access for maintenance. It should not be placed in an area where water may accumulate. The pool must be installed no closer than 6 feet (1.8 m) from any electrical outlet, and portable appliances should be no closer than 5 feet (1.5 m) from the pool.
- Cord Management: The power cord should not be buried and must be located to minimize abuse from lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment.
- Adult Assembly: Assembly and disassembly of the product should only be performed by adults.
Maintenance Features:
- Filter Cartridge Replacement: For optimal performance and sanitary reasons, the filter cartridge should be replaced with a new one every two weeks. The manual includes visual instructions for this process.
- SOFA Component Replacement: Missing, broken, or cracked cover/grates, sumps, mud-frames, or any other SOFA component must be replaced before bathers are allowed to use the pool. Loose cover/grates must be reattached. Suction fittings should be replaced every 2 years.
- SOFA Inspection: Cover/grate, including fasteners, should be observed for damage or tampering each operational day.
- Cleaning: SOFA components and fastener receptacles must be clean and free of debris or obstructions during installation.
- Disassembly for Cleaning/Service: A screwdriver (not included) can be used to disassemble the suction fitting for cleaning or service.
- Winterizing: Suction fittings should be completely dried, and the product stored in a dry room at a temperature between 15°C and 40°C (50°F and 100°F). It is strongly recommended to disassemble the filter pump when the environment temperature is below 10°C (50°F).
- Pre-use Check: Before using, check the integrity of the head of the suction fitting. Do not use if it is broken, cracked, or significantly faded.
- Electrical Safety: Always unplug the filter pump before performing any maintenance.
- Part Replacement: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts to ensure continued protection against shock hazards.
- Cord Inspection: Inspect the power cord before each use; do not use if the cord is damaged. If the power cord becomes damaged in any way, the pump must be discarded.
- Shelter from Elements: Whenever possible, shelter the pump from cold, heat, and sun exposure to prevent unnecessary wear and tear.
