- Oncethericeiscooked,thecookingswitchwillipupandswitchinto“Keep-
Warm” mode. The cooking indicator goes out and the keep warm indicator
lights up automatically. It will keep the rice warm until it is disconnected from
the mains supply.
- Make sure to unplug the appliance from the mains and disconnect the power
cord from the power socket of the main unit after its usage or if you are not
keeping the food warm. It does not switch off automatically.
- Open the glass lid and use the plastic spatula provided to mix or remove the
rice.
NOTE: Be careful when lifting or opening the lid as escaping steam may
causeburnstohandsorngers.Alwaysuselidhandletoavoidscaldingand
allow water to drip into the cooking pot.
Hints:
- You may rinse rice to remove excess bran and starch. This will help to reduce
rice browning and sticking to the bottom of your pot after cooking, but it may
also lose some nutrients in the rice.
- Rinse the rice in a separate bowl until water is clear. Do not wash the rice in
the cooking pot as this could damage the non-stick coating.
- Always follow the rice manufacturers’ recommendations to determine the
best water-to-rice ratio. Or follow the water level indications on the inside of
thecookingpot:llthewatertothelinewhichmatchesthenumberofcups
of rice being cooked. You can adjust the water level for different types of rice
and your own preference. Do not exceed the 1.8L (for MCS-1850) or 2.2L (for
MCS-2250) marking indicated on the inside of the cooking pot.
- Brown rice takes longer to cook and requires more water than white rice.
When cooking brown or wild rice, add 3/4 additional cup of water.
- For softer rice, we suggest preparing rice and water in the cooking pot and
soak for 10-20 minutes before cooking.
- If you have experienced any sticking due to the type of rice you choose, try
adding a light coating of vegetable oil to the bottom of the cooking pot before
placing rice.
- Rice should not be left in the cooking pot with the “Keep-Warm” function on
for more than 12 hours.
- We recommend that you do not take the lid off for at least 10 minutes after the
rice cooking is over.
- To reheat cold rice, add 1/4 cup of cold water per cup of cooked rice, stir to
mix, then press the cooking switch to start cooking. When rice is warm, the
multi-cooker will automatically switch to the keep warm function.
