03 INSTALLATION
3.1 Initial Setup
Generator rails are normally installed in the supply
air side of an air handling unit following an air filter.
Alternatively, they can be installed in the return
plenum. A minimum MERV 8 rated prefilter is
required. Higher efficiency is a plus.
Minimum clearances between filter and generator
rails and heating or cooling surfaces shall be four
inches (101 mm). Where space permits, increase
clearances on the downstream side of the
generators to 12 inches (305 mm).
Rail assemblies require a minimum of three inches in the direction of airflow (See Appendices for drawing).
Alternatively, generator rails may be installed in the air handling unit supply plenum subject to ambient temperature limitations.
The maximum ambient temperature for the generators is 130º F (54º C).
Follow local and national electric codes.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to connect the generator ActiveOx unit(s) across multi-phase 3 or 4
wire circuits or across any electrical service in which pole to pole voltage exceeds 240 Volts. RMS.
3.2 Installation
Install the rail assembly in accordance with the following guidelines.
3.2.1 See Appendices for a typical installation.
3.2.2 Ionizers must be accessible for future service.
3.2.3 The rail must be installed such that the air blows
across the face of the ionizer modules perpendicular
to the needle electrodes and to an imaginary line that
bisects both needles as indicated by the arrows below.
3.3 Wiring
Connect wiring to the ActiveOx generator rail(s) following the specific wiring diagram for the application.
See Appendices for typical diagram.
