The BISSELL SpotClean Pro is a portable deep cleaner designed for effective spot and stain removal from carpets and upholstery. It is a compact and high-tech home cleaning system that leverages BISSELL's long history in floor care, dating back to 1876 when the first floor sweeper was invented.
Function Description
The primary function of the SpotClean Pro is to pretreat, wash, and remove tough spots and stains from various surfaces. It uses a combination of cleaning formula and water, applied through a cleaning tool, to penetrate and loosen dirt, which is then suctioned into a dirty water tank. This process aims to improve carpet cleaning performance and restore the cleanliness of soiled areas. The device is particularly effective on heavily soiled carpets in high-traffic areas, such as entryways and hallways, as well as on specific stains.
Usage Features
The SpotClean Pro is designed for ease of use, starting with its assembly and preparation. Before deep cleaning, users are advised to remove loose dirt and impediments from the area. An optional pretreating step is recommended for heavily soiled areas, where a BISSELL Stain Pretreat formula is sprayed onto the affected area and allowed to penetrate for at least three minutes before cleaning.
To prepare the machine for operation, the flex hose is released by twisting its secure latch clockwise and unwrapped completely. Users can then attach either the Large Stain Tool or Tough Stain Tool to the hose grip, ensuring it snaps securely into place. The power cord is unwrapped by twisting the Quick Release™ cord wrap clockwise and plugged into a grounded outlet.
Filling the formula and water tank is a straightforward process. The tank is removed from the back of the machine by lifting its carry handle. It features a flat bottom for easy filling. The black cap is unscrewed, and the bottle insert is removed. Hot tap water (up to 140°F/60°C MAX) is filled to the water fill line, and 60 mL of BISSELL 2X concentrated formula is added. After replacing the bottle insert and tightening the cap, the tank is placed back on the machine.
For cleaning, the unit is plugged in and turned on by pressing the power button. The cleaning tool is held approximately 2.5 cm above the soiled surface, and the spray trigger is pressed to apply the cleaning solution. The brush on the cleaning tool is then used to gently scrub the area. For thorough cleaning, additional solution can be sprayed while the brush and suction are in contact with the surface. Downward pressure is applied to the cleaning tool, and it is pulled toward the user to suction up the dirt and cleaning solution. This process is repeated until no more dirt can be removed. As a final step, "drying strokes" are performed without pressing the spray trigger to remove as much liquid and moisture as possible.
The SpotClean Pro offers a range of 2X concentrated cleaning formulas tailored for different needs:
- Wash & Protect formulas include Professional Stain & Odour, Pet Stain & Odour, and Stain & Odour, all designed to remove tough stains and odours, and include Scotchgard™ Protector for future stain protection.
- Wash & Remove formulas feature +Oxy, which permanently removes tough stains like red wine, coffee, tea, cola, and grape juice using Active Oxygen Technology.
- Wash & Refresh formulas include Febreze™ Blossom & Breeze for powerful cleaning with a refreshing spring scent, Oxygen Boost for removing old, set-in stains permanently, and Natural Orange for powerful cleaning with a refreshing natural orange scent.
The device is equipped with a carry handle for portability, a power button, a dirty water tank, a power cord with Quick Release™ cord wrap, and a flex hose. The cleaning tool is designed to facilitate effective scrubbing and suction.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance ensures the optimal performance and longevity of the SpotClean Pro. The dirty water tank needs to be emptied when the "FULL" line is reached. To do this, the tank is removed and carried to a utility sink or toilet for disposal of the dirty water. The handle is rotated over the back of the tank to unlock the lid, which is then removed to pour out the dirty water. The tank should be rinsed to remove any debris. After rinsing, the lid is replaced, and the handle is rotated forward to lock it in place on the front of the tank. Before reattaching the tank to the machine, any debris from the red filter should be wiped away.
The cleaning tools should be removed and rinsed under clean, running water, then allowed to dry. To rinse out the hose, it is recommended to suction clean water from a bowl. The end of the hose should then be lifted and stretched out to ensure all water is cleared. Finally, the flex hose is wrapped around the hose wrap and secured with its latch for storage.
The debris filter should be checked regularly, and any hair and debris removed from the red filter before placing the Dirty Water Tank back onto the machine.
Troubleshooting guidance is provided for common issues:
- Reduced spray or no spray: This could be due to an empty formula and water tank (remedy: refill tank), or the tank not being seated completely (remedy: turn power OFF, remove, and reseat tank). If the pump has lost prime, holding the end of the hose below the water level in the tank will prime it.
- Loss of suction power: This can occur if the tanks are not seated properly (remedy: pick up both tanks and reseat them snuggly), if the dirty tank has picked up the maximum amount of dirty water and reached the full line (remedy: empty dirty tank), or if the formula and water tank is empty (remedy: check fluid levels).
Safety instructions emphasize unplugging the appliance before maintenance and ensuring all controls are turned off. The device is designed for household use only and should not be used with damaged cables or plugs, or to pick up flammable, toxic, or sharp objects. Only BISSELL cleaning products intended for use with the machine should be used, and the specified type and amount of liquids should be followed. The float must always be installed before any wet pick-up operation.
