Overview

The BISSELL StainPro 4 Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner (model 2068N) is a deep cleaning system designed for household use, capable of cleaning carpets and upholstery. It features a robust design with several key components and functionalities to ensure effective cleaning and ease of maintenance.

Function Description:

The StainPro 4 operates by applying a cleaning solution to carpets or upholstery and then extracting the dirty water, along with loosened dirt and debris. This process is facilitated by a combination of spray, brush agitation, and powerful suction. The device is equipped with a 2-in-1 Water Tank that holds both clean water/formula and collects dirty water, simplifying the filling and emptying process. For targeted cleaning, it includes a hose and various attachments, making it suitable for stairs, upholstery, and other hard-to-reach areas. The Ready Tools Dial allows users to switch between floor cleaning and attachment cleaning modes, directing spray and suction appropriately.

Important Technical Specifications:

The cleaner is designed for operation on a 220-240 Volt A.C. 50-60 Hz power supply. It utilizes BISSELL 2X concentrated cleaning formulas, with a 1.5 L capacity for various specialized formulas such as Wash & Protect PRO Professional Stain & Odour Formula, Pet Stain & Odour Formula, and Wash & Refresh Blossom & Breeze with Febreze. The 2X concentrated formula means that 60 mL is equivalent to 120 mL of non-concentrated formula. The machine incorporates a DirtLifter PowerBrush with 4 cleaning rows for effective agitation and dirt removal, along with Edge Sweep Brushes for cleaning along baseboards. The maximum water temperature for filling the bladder is 60°C/140°F (hand hot tap water), and users are cautioned not to boil or microwave water.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The cleaner comes in five easy-to-assemble components: Handle Assembly, Upper Body Assembly, Upper Hose Rack, Lower Body Assembly, and Lower Hose Rack. Assembly requires a Phillips-head screwdriver and involves sliding and securing these components with screws. The Flex Hose wraps around the Hose Rack and is secured with a notched holder and latch.
  • 2-in-1 Water Tank: This innovative tank design separates clean and dirty water within a single unit, making it convenient to fill and empty. The lid features a built-in measuring cup for precise formula dispensing. The tank handle rotates to unlatch the lid for filling and then latches to secure it for carrying and placement.
  • Carpet Cleaning: Before cleaning, users should vacuum the area with a dry vacuum, plan an exit path, and move furniture if necessary. To operate, the Ready Tools Dial is set to "Floor Cleaning." The machine is reclined using two pedals: one below the water tank and another next to the red power pedal. Cleaning involves pressing the spray trigger for a slow forward and backward wet pass, followed by passes without spraying to suction up dirty water. Users are advised not to overwet the carpet.
  • Area Rug Cleaning: For area rugs, it's crucial to check the manufacturer's tag for specialized instructions and test for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area. The cleaner should only be used on sealed surfaces, and the foot of the cleaner should be kept perpendicular to the rug's edge to prevent damage.
  • Upholstery and Spot Cleaning (Ready Tools): The cleaner includes a hose and attachments for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and other areas. Before cleaning upholstery, users must check manufacturer's tags for compatibility ("W" or "WS" codes are suitable; "X," "S," or "Dry Clean Only" are not). Colorfastness and upholstery stuffing should also be checked. The Ready Tools Dial is set to "TOOLS" mode to activate spray and suction through the hose. Cleaning involves attaching a tool, pressing the spray trigger to apply solution, and moving the tool back and forth to suction dirty water.
  • Ready Tools Dial: This dial allows seamless switching between "Floor Cleaning" and "TOOLS" modes, directing the cleaning solution and suction to either the floor nozzle or the accessory hose. If the dial becomes difficult to turn, the diverter assembly can be cleaned by removing the nozzle, unscrewing the assembly, rinsing it under running water, and turning the dial clockwise and counter-clockwise to free debris.

Maintenance Features:

  • 2-in-1 Water Tank Emptying and Rinsing: After each use, the 2-in-1 Water Tank should be removed, carried like a bucket to a utility sink, and emptied of collection water. The tank and its internal bladder should be rinsed with running hand hot tap water.
  • Lint Screen Cleaning: The red Lint Screen, located on the tank lid, should be removed and rinsed after each use to prevent blockages.
  • Removable Nozzle Cleaning: If the nozzle requires cleaning, it can be removed by grasping its handle and pulling it out, then rinsed under running water. Proper reattachment is crucial to maintain suction.
  • Brush Roll Cleaning: Any loose hair or debris on the Brush Roll can be pulled off and discarded. Users are warned to unplug the machine before removing the brush to avoid injury.
  • Attachment and Hose Cleaning: Attachments should be removed from the hose and rinsed in clean, running water, then dried before storing. The hose can be cleaned by suctioning clean water from a bowl. Before wrapping the hose back onto the machine, it should be lifted and stretched out to ensure all water is cleared.
  • Exterior Cleaning: The machine's exterior can be wiped with a soft cloth.
  • Post-Cleaning Vacuuming: After the carpet is dry, it is recommended to vacuum again to remove any remaining hair and fuzz.
  • Storage: The cleaner should be stored in a protected, dry area, such as a closet or basement. It is critical not to store the unit where freezing may occur, as freezing can damage internal components and void the guarantee. The power switch should be turned OFF, and the power cable wrapped before storage.

Safety Information:

The manual emphasizes several safety instructions, including always connecting to a properly earthed electrical socket, unplugging the machine before maintenance or when not in use, and using only BISSELL cleaning fluids intended for the deep cleaner to prevent fire, electric shock, and internal component damage. It also warns against using cleaning formulas containing lemon or pine oil, as these can damage plastic materials and void the guarantee. The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities if supervised and instructed. Users are reminded to always install the float before any wet pick-up operation to reduce the risk of electric shock.
