Usage Features

  • Outdoor Use Only: This appliance is strictly for outdoor domestic use and should not be installed in buildings, garages, boats, or recreational vehicles.
  • Sheltered Outdoor Areas: Can be used in partial enclosures with specific ventilation requirements:
    • Three walls, no overhead cover.
    • Overhead cover, no more than two sidewalls (parallel or right angles).
    • Overhead cover, three sidewalls, as long as 30% or more of the horizontal periphery is permanently open.
  • Electric Ignition: Features an electric ignition system activated by pushing control knobs and turning them counter-clockwise. An ON button is present, and an optional dimmer for puddle lights. Indicator lights on the knobs show gas flow (white), ignition (flashing blue), and desired temperature (orange).
  • Control Knobs: Four control knobs allow individual burner control, with OFF, LOW, and HIGH positions. Knobs should spring back when pushed in and turn smoothly.
  • Grease Management: Includes a grease cup located at the back of the griddle body to collect cooking grease and debris.
  • Seasoning: The griddle top requires seasoning before first use and regular re-seasoning to maintain a non-stick surface and prevent rust. Blackstone Seasoning and Cast Iron Conditioner or any plant-based cooking oil/rendered animal fat without additives are recommended.
  • Cooking Surface: A flat griddle top suitable for various cooking methods.
  • Hood: Provides cover for the griddle surface. The hood MUST be open/removed when the appliance is in use.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning the Griddle Top:
    • Before First Use: Wash with hot, soapy water (this is the only time soap should be used). Rinse and dry completely.
    • After Each Use: Clean while warm. Push loose food debris into the grease cup, wipe with a paper towel, apply water and scrape debris into the grease cup, wipe dry, and apply a thin coat of cooking oil to maintain seasoning.
    • Rust Removal: If rust appears, rub it off with steel wool, low grit sandpaper, or a Blackstone Pumice Stone, then re-season.
  • Emptying the Grease Cup: The grease cup must be removed and emptied after each use, but only after the griddle has completely cooled.
  • Burner Assembly Cleaning:
    • Recommended at least once a month, especially when spiders are active or after periods of disuse.
    • Turn off gas supply and remove the griddle top.
    • Detach and remove the burner.
    • Clean the inside of the burner tube with a bottle brush or stiff wire.
    • Use compressed air to blow through the burner tube and ports (wear eye protection).
    • Brush the entire outer surface of the burner.
    • Clean any blocked ports with a stiff wire (e.g., paper clip).
    • Carefully replace burners, ensuring the gas rail fuel nozzle is re-engaged within the burner opening and the ignition needle is correctly positioned.
  • Appliance Body Cleaning: Wash with warm soapy water and wipe dry with a non-abrasive cloth. Avoid Citrisol, abrasive cleaners, or concentrated cleaners.
  • Storage:
    • Allow the appliance to cool to 115°F (45°C) before moving or storing.
    • Storage indoors is only permissible if the gas supply is disconnected and removed.
    • Always cover the appliance when stored outdoors.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for ignition issues (burner not igniting, match lighting instructions) and gas flow problems (not achieving high heat, uneven heating, yellow/irregular flames). It also includes instructions for replacing the control knob's printed circuit board (PCB) if a knob malfunctions.
  • Leak Test: A leak test must be performed after connecting to the natural gas supply and after any maintenance involving gas components. Use a mild soap and water solution on connections; bubbles indicate a leak.
