Overview

This document is the user manual for the BT005V Weight Scale, version 1.1.

Function Description

The BT005V is a digital weight scale designed to measure the body weight of adults. It expresses body weight as a number in units of mass (kg or lb). The device utilizes load cells for measurement. When weight is applied to the glass platform, it is transferred to four load cells located above the device's feet. These load cells measure the exerted force, which is then converted into a mass value. The measurement system comprises a load platform, load cells, and control electronics with a display. This device is intended for indoor, home use and is not suitable for continuous monitoring during medical emergencies or operations. It is also not anesthesia proofed (AP/APG) and should not be used in the presence of flammable anesthetics.

Usage Features

Installing Batteries:

  1. Open the battery door on the back of the device.
  2. Install the four AA batteries provided, ensuring correct polarity (springs align with the negative sign).
  3. Close the battery door.

Taking a Measurement:

  1. Place the scale on a hard, even surface, avoiding carpet.
  2. Step onto the glass platform and remain still.
  3. Wait for the device to power on and perform the measurement.
  4. Do not move or talk during the procedure.
  5. After the measurement, the display briefly blinks, and results are shown.
  6. Step off the glass platform.
  7. The device automatically transmits measurement results, indicated by a symbol in the middle of the display. A successful transmission is also indicated before the device powers off.
  8. To abort a measurement, simply step off the glass platform.

Contraindications:

  • Do not use this device for infants.

Precautions:

  • Use only Duracell alkaline AA batteries for optimal battery life and cellular data transmission.
  • Keep the device and batteries away from children due to choking/strangulation risks.
  • Do not use if the glass platform is cracked or severely scratched.
  • Avoid use with high-frequency (HF) surgical equipment.
  • Do not use if allergic to rubber or plastic.
  • Intended for indoor, home use only; not for public use.
  • Consult a medical professional if in doubt before use.
  • Allow up to 30 minutes for the device to warm up/cool down to operating temperature before use.
  • Do not use in the presence of flammable gases or high oxygen concentrations.
  • Measurements may be inaccurate near strong electromagnetic fields (e.g., microwave ovens, wireless charging stations, X-ray machines).
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 1 foot (30 cm) from wireless communication devices (Wi-Fi access points, mobile phones, cordless phones) during measurement to avoid interference.
  • Do not self-diagnose or alter medical treatment based on device readings without consulting a medical professional.
  • Do not touch batteries during measurement.
  • The device is portable but should not be operated in transit.
  • Do not use beyond its expected lifetime, as sensor performance may degrade.
  • No third-party operator is required for measurements.

Troubleshooting:

  • Device doesn't power on: Replace batteries with new Duracell AAs or reinsert batteries with correct polarity.
  • Readings too high/low or vary significantly: Place the device on a hard, even surface (not carpet) and remain still without talking during measurement.
  • Error codes (Er 1-11): Refer to the manual's error code table for specific resolutions, including battery replacement, avoiding movement, checking cellular coverage, or contacting customer support.

Maintenance Features

  • Use only Duracell AA batteries.
  • Store and use the device in the same location if possible, avoiding unnecessary movement when not in use.
  • Store in a clean, dry place.
  • Avoid direct sunlight, moisture, extreme heat, cold, or humidity.
  • Avoid vibration, shaking, or other mechanical stresses.
  • Clean with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a dampened cloth and natural detergent. Do not use alcohol, benzene, or other harsh chemicals.
  • Do not wash or splash with water; it is not water resistant.
  • Keep away from infants and small children.
