b) If the use of a guard is recommended for wire
brushing, do not allow any interference of the
wire wheel or brush with the guard. Wire wheel or
brush may expand in diameter due to work load
and centrifugal forces.
Additional safety instructions
„ Use suitable detectors to determine if utility lines
are hidden in the work area or call the local utility
company for assistance. Contact with electric lines
can lead to fire and electric shock. Damaging a gas
line can lead to explosion. Penetrating a water line
causes property damage or may cause an electric
shock.
„ If the power supply should be disconnected, e. g.
due to a power outage or pulling the mains plug,
release the On/Off switch and set it to the Off
position. This prevents uncontrolled restarting.
„ When working stone, use dust extraction. The
vacuum cleaner must be approved for the
extraction of stone dust. Using this equipment
reduces dust-related hazards.
„ Use a cutting guide when cutting stone. Without
sideward guidance, the cutting disc can jam and
cause kickback.

Introduction
Bosch Sanders GWS 12 U and GWS 21 U have been
developed to perform a wide variety of sanding jobs
in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood in general,
finish concrete, car paints, stones (marble, granite
and graniteware, etc.), among others.
By adapting a wire cup brush, the sander can be used
to remove rust, old paints and brushing jobs in
general.
The use of a flared cup grinding wheel will allow a
great number of grinding jobs, such as surfacing of
plates, concrete, pavement, etc.
„ The machine can be used only for dry cutting.
