2.3 A/C performance test
The A/C performance test can be conducted to check
for effective cooling of the vehicle A/C system. The
diagnosis can be done before or after vehicle A/C ser-
vice. However, there could be a risk of change in the
of R134a quantity in the vehicle A/C system by a small
amount.
1. In the main menu, select "Vehicle A/C Service" and
press E.
2. Select "Additional Services" → "A/C Performance
Test".
3. Press E.
? The following screen is displayed.
4. Wait till the clearing is complete. Then, connect the
HP and LP service hoses to the service connections
on the vehicle A/C system. Press .
5. Start the engine with the vehicle gear lever turned to
Neutral.
6. Switch on the vehicle A/C to Maximum (cooling to
maximum). Press .
7. Perform the A/C system test based on either of the
following as per the A/C or vehicle manufacturer’s
recommendation:
$ Grill temperature
$ HP and LP pressure gauge readings
8. After the A/C system test is complete, turn off the
engine and the vehicle A/C system. Press .
9. Wait for two minutes.
? The Hose Drain screen is displayed.
Warning - Risk of frostbite!
If refrigerant escapes, there is a risk of frost-
bite to the hands and body.
¶ Carefully disconnect filling hoses as all
hoses can contain pressurized refrigerant.
10. Turn the quick couplers in the counterclockwise
direction and detach the HP/LP couplers from the
service connections on the vehicle. Press .
11. Press to select "Start hose drain". To abort the
hose drain, press c.
? The hose drain starts.
12. After the hose drain is complete, the following
screen is displayed:
13. Connect the LP hose to the LP service connection
of the vehicle A/C system. Press .
14. Start the engine with the vehicle gear lever turned
to Neutral. Switch on the vehicle A/C.
15. Press .
16. Press and select Top Up Quantity.
i The top-up quantity is calculated automatically. This
quantity accounts for the backflow of the R134a into
the ACS 600/601/650.
17. Press to start the top up.
? After the top-up is complete, the Hose Drain
screen is displayed.
18. Detach the LP coupling and press .
19. Press to select "Start hose drain". To abort the
hose drain, press c.
"Upon completion of the hose drain, the A/C perfor-
mance test is complete.
3. Vehicle codes and refriger-
ant quantity
The part number of the "Vehicle codes and refrigerant
quantity" handbook, 1 689 988 217 (see chapter 3.2 of
the operating instruction 1 689 988 222) has changed.
The new part number is F 002 DG9 415.
