Checking the Adjustment of the Riving Knife
For safety reasons, the riving knife 21 must al-
ways be used. The riving knife prevents the jam-
ming of the saw blade during lengthways cuts.
The adjustment takes place at the maximum cut-
ting depth.
Loosen the screw 15, adjust the riving knife 21
and retighten the screw.
To adjust the cutting depth loosen winged
screw 7 and raise the saw from the base plate 14,
or lower it towards the base plate, respectively:
Raise for shorter cutting depths
Lower for longer cutting depths
Set the desired depth on the cutting depth
scale 6.
Retighten the winged screw 7.
To achieve an optimum cut, the saw blade should
protrude by 3 mm at the most from the material.
Loosen the winged screw 9.
Swing the machine to the side until the desired
cutting angle is set on the scale 8.
Retighten the winged screw 9.
Note: For mitre cutting, the cutting depth is
smaller than the value shown on the cutting depth
scale 6.
The cutting mark 0° ( 23) indicates the position of
the saw blade for right angle cuts.
The cutting mark 45° ( 24) indicates the position
of the saw blade for 45° cuts.
Check for correct mains voltage: The voltage
of the power source must agree with the voltage
specified on the nameplate of the machine.
Equipment marked with 230 V can also be con-
nected to 220 V.
Switching on:
Actuate the switch lock 2.
Press the on/off switch 3 and hold pressed.
Note: The on/off switch 3 cannot be locked on.
Switching off:
Release the on/off switch 3.
Speed Selection (GKS 66 CE)
With the adjustment knob 5, the speed can be
continuously selected. The required speed is de-
pendent on the saw blade used and the material
to be worked (see Saw Blade Table).
Constant Electronics (GKS 66 CE)
The constant electronics ensures that the ma-
chine speed is the same regardless of the load
conditions; this ensures uniform work advancing
and a smooth cutting pattern.
Temperature Dependent Overload Protection
(GKS 66 CE)
When the machine is overloaded while sawing,
the motor stops and starts again only when the
advancing rate is reduced. For machines that
have become warm during operation, the temper-
ature dependent overload protection will react
earlier. The reaction time will be dependent on the
initial temperature of the machine.
Starting Current Limiting (GKS 66 CE)
As a result of soft starting, a 16-A fuse is ade-
quate.
