4.2 What can the ammeter indicate?
4.2.1 Normal operation
High charging current (high number) can signify:
● Battery almost exhausted or has a very low charge.
4.2.2 Low charging current can signify:
● Battery is fully charged.
No or very slight defelction of the ammeter despite an
exhausted battery.
● Unit not switched on
● New or inadequate mains voltage
The centre red LED does not light up.
● Terminals have no contact
● Incorrect polarity
● The bottom red LED lights up
5. Unit as battery test indicator
When the switch is set to ‘TEST“, the unit can be used to carry
out a very simple test of A 12V battery (the working lamp is
lighting). Mains connection is not necessary.
Permissible battery capacity: 24 to 66 Ah. (The test information
for larger or smaller batteries would be falsified).
● Connect the charging cables to the battery (see 2.2)
● Set the switch to „TEST“ position
● Load the battery with approximately 110 W (corresponding
to switching on the full beam of a motor vehicle, for examp-
le).
The yellow LED lights up after approximately 30 sec.
Continuous light signifies: charging not necessary.
Flashing light signifies: charging necessary.
No light signifies: battery has a very low charge.
If you wish to test the battery once again after charging, proceed
as follows:
● Set the switch „TEST“ position
● Briefly disconnect and then once again reconnect the
positive or negative terminal.
If the battery has been newly filled, the test indicator will only pro-
vide unfalsified information after 2 charging/discharging cycles.
It is absolutely necessary to disconnect the battery if the charger
is to be put out of operation for a longer period of time.
6. Using the unit as a working lamp
Set the switch to position . Connect the battery. The working
lamp can only be used when a battery is connected.
