This document describes an induction hob with an integrated ventilation system, designed for preparing meals and drinks in private households and enclosed domestic spaces. It is intended for use under supervision, with users advised not to leave the appliance unattended during short cooking periods. The appliance is suitable for altitudes up to 2000 m above sea level.
The induction hob utilizes induction technology, which offers several benefits over conventional hobs, including time and energy savings for cooking and frying, easier cleaning, and improved heat control. Heat is generated directly in the cookware, ensuring efficient cooking. The hob features multiple cooking zones with varying power levels and a PowerBoost function for rapid heating of large quantities of water.
The integrated ventilation system efficiently extracts air, cleaning it through grease filters and, in recirculation mode, an odour filter. The system can operate in two modes: air extraction mode, where cleaned air is discharged to the exterior via a pipe system, and circulating-air mode, where cleaned air is returned to the room. In air extraction mode, it is crucial to ensure adequate fresh air supply to prevent flue gases from being drawn back into the living space, especially when other room-air-dependent heat-producing appliances are in operation. For circulating-air mode, an odour filter must be installed to bind odours.
The ventilation system offers manual control with various performance levels and an intensive ventilation setting for maximum output over a short period. It also features an automatic start function, which activates the ventilation system at a corresponding power level when a cooking zone is selected. A run-on function allows the ventilation system to continue operating for a few minutes after the hob is switched off, removing any remaining cooking fumes.
The hob includes several time-setting options: a switch-off timer that programs a cooking time for a hotplate and automatically switches it off once the time elapses, and a separate timer for general timing purposes that does not affect hotplate operation.
Safety features include a childproof lock to prevent unintentional activation, an automatic childproof lock, and an individual safety switch-off that deactivates a cooking zone if it operates for an extended period without settings changes. The hob also has a residual heat indicator for each cooking zone, warning users when a zone is hot.
Switching On/Off and Setting Cooking Zones: The hob is switched on and off using the main switch. If all cooking zones are off for more than 20 seconds, the hob automatically switches off. A ReStart function allows the hob to resume previous settings if switched on within four seconds of being turned off. Cooking zones are selected by touch, and power levels (1-9 with intermediate levels) are set using plus or minus symbols. A QuickStart function automatically detects cookware placed on the hob before it is switched on, selecting the corresponding cooking zone.
Cooking Tips: For best results, users are advised to stir puree, cream soups, or thick sauces occasionally. For preheating, power levels 8-9 are recommended. When cooking with a lid, the power level should be reduced once steam escapes. Cookware should be covered after cooking to keep food warm. When using a pressure cooker, follow the manufacturer's instructions. Overcooking should be avoided to preserve nutrients, and the kitchen timer can help set optimal cooking times. Oil should not be allowed to smoke, and food should be fried in small portions for browning. Oven gloves are recommended as some cookware may reach high temperatures.
Hood Control: The ventilation system can be manually controlled by touching a symbol and selecting the desired performance level using plus or minus symbols. An intensive ventilation setting can be activated for maximum output, which automatically reverts to a lower level after approximately eight minutes. The manual ventilation control can be deactivated by setting the performance level to 0.
Time-Setting Options: The switch-off timer is programmed by selecting a cooking zone, setting the power level, and then using the plus or minus symbols to choose the cooking time. The timer begins counting down automatically. The kitchen timer is set by selecting a hotplate, touching a symbol twice, and then using the plus or minus symbols to select the desired time.
PowerBoost Function: This function allows for faster heating of large quantities of water compared to using power level 9. It is available for any cooking zone, provided no other cooking zone in the same group is in use.
Childproof Lock: The childproof lock is activated by touching and holding a specific symbol for four seconds when the hob is switched off. The lock is released by repeating the same action. An automatic childproof lock is also available.
Basic Settings: The hob's basic settings can be configured to meet individual needs, including childproof lock options, signal tones, automatic switch-off duration for cooking zones, and timer end signal tone duration. The operating mode (circulating-air or air extraction) can also be configured here.
Cookware Test: A cookware test function allows users to assess the quality of their cookware, which significantly impacts cooking speed and results. This test involves placing cookware with water on a cooking zone and activating the function through the basic settings. The results indicate whether the cookware is suitable, optimal, or not suitable for induction cooking.
Cleaning the Hob: The hob should be cleaned after every use to prevent cooking residues from burning on. It should be cold before cleaning, especially if there are sugar stains, rice starch, plastic, or aluminum foil, which should be removed immediately with a glass scraper. A cleaning agent suitable for glass ceramic should be used, following the manufacturer's instructions. A special sponge for glass ceramic is recommended for good cleaning results. Keeping cookware bases clean helps maintain the hob surface.
Cleaning the Hob Surround: The hob frame should be cleaned with hot soapy water and a soft cloth if dirty or stained. A glass scraper should not be used on the hob frame.
Changing Odour and Acoustics Filters: Odour filters should be changed regularly, and acoustics filters if they are dirty. Only genuine replacement filters should be used. When removing grease filters, they should be gripped from below and held level to prevent grease from dripping out. Used odour or acoustics filters should be disposed of properly, and new ones inserted into the appliance.
Cleaning the Grease Filters: Grease filters should be cleaned regularly to maintain efficiency and prevent fire hazards from fatty deposits. They can be cleaned manually by soaking them in hot soapy water and scrubbing with a brush, or in a dishwasher. Aggressive, acidic, or alkaline cleaning products should be avoided. Special grease solvent can be used for stubborn dirt. After cleaning, the filters should be thoroughly rinsed and allowed to drain before reinsertion.
Cleaning the Overflow Container: The overflow container, which collects liquids or objects, should be cleaned frequently. It must be unscrewed, emptied, rinsed, and cleaned before being screwed back into place. It's important to ensure the supply to the overflow container is not blocked.
Resetting the Saturation Indicator: After replacing the odour filter, the saturation indicator (F display) should be reset by pressing and holding a specific symbol until an audible signal sounds.
