This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Bosch Uneo Maxx cordless rotary hammer, covering its functions, usage, and maintenance.
The Bosch Uneo Maxx is a versatile cordless rotary hammer designed for hammer drilling in concrete, brick, and stone. It is also suitable for drilling without impact in wood, metal, ceramic, and plastic, and for screwdriving, thanks to its electronic control and right/left rotation capabilities.
The device features an SDS-Quick tool holder, which allows for simple and convenient changing of drilling tools without the need for additional tools. This system ensures that the drill bit centers itself during drilling, despite any radial run-out at no-load. The tool holder can also accommodate different drill-bit types with hexagon shanks, expanding its versatility. A dust protection cap is integrated to largely prevent drilling dust from entering the tool holder during operation, which is crucial for maintaining the tool's longevity and performance.
The Uneo Maxx is powered by an 18V lithium-ion battery, which is protected against deep discharging by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". This means that when the battery is empty, the machine automatically switches off to prevent damage. The battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life, and interrupting the charging procedure does not harm the battery. The battery also includes an NTC temperature control, allowing charging only within a specific temperature range (0 °C to 45 °C) to ensure a long service life.
The device features a selector switch for drilling/hammer drilling, allowing users to easily switch between operating modes. An On/Off switch controls the machine, and a rotational direction switch enables users to reverse the rotational direction for screwdriving tasks. Indicators for right and left rotation light up when the On/Off switch is actuated and the motor is running. The "PowerLight" illuminates the work area when lighting conditions are insufficient, enhancing visibility during operation.
A battery charge-control indicator, consisting of three green LEDs, shows the battery's charge condition. This indicator also flashes rapidly if the battery temperature is outside the optimal operating range or if overload protection has actuated. The speed and impact rate of the power tool can be variably adjusted by how far the On/Off switch is pressed, allowing for precise control depending on the application. The machine also includes a run-on brake, which stops the chuck when the On/Off switch is released, preventing the tool from running on unintentionally.
Before starting any work, it is essential to read all safety warnings and instructions to prevent electric shock, fire, or serious injury. The work area should be kept clean and well lit, and children and bystanders should be kept away. Personal protective equipment, including eye protection, dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection, should always be worn.
To insert SDS-Quick drilling tools, the shank end of the tool should be cleaned and lightly greased, then inserted into the tool holder in a twisting manner until it latches. The latching should be checked by pulling the tool. To remove SDS-Quick drilling tools, the locking sleeve should be pushed back, and the tool removed. For screwdriving, screwdriver bits with ball catch (DIN 3126-E6.3) are recommended, or other screwdriver bits can be used via a universal bit holder with ball catch.
The rotational direction switch should only be actuated when the machine is at a standstill to avoid damage. For right rotation (drilling and driving screws), the switch should be pushed left to the stop. For left rotation (loosening and unscrewing screws and nuts), the switch should be pressed right to the stop. The operating mode should only be changed when the machine is switched off to prevent damage.
When driving screws, it is recommended to wait until the screw is flush with the material before releasing the On/Off switch to prevent the screw head from penetrating the material. The power tool should only be applied to the screw/nut when it is switched off to prevent rotating tool inserts from slipping off.
For safe and proper working, the machine and ventilation slots should always be kept clean. Before any maintenance, tool changes, transport, or storage, the rotational direction switch should be set to the center position to prevent unintentional actuation of the On/Off switch.
A damaged dust protection cap should be changed immediately by an after-sales service to ensure proper dust extraction and tool longevity. The battery should be protected against heat, continuous intense sunlight, fire, water, and moisture to prevent the danger of explosion. In case of damage or improper use of the battery, if vapors are emitted, fresh air should be provided, and medical help sought if complaints arise.
Only original Bosch batteries with the voltage listed on the nameplate of the power tool should be used. Using other batteries can lead to injuries and property damage through exploding batteries. If the power tool requires service, it should be serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts to maintain safety.
The machine, rechargeable batteries, accessories, and packaging should be sorted for environmentally friendly recycling. Power tools and batteries should not be disposed of in household waste. For EC countries, power tools and defective or used battery packs/batteries that are no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally correct manner according to European Guidelines. Batteries no longer suitable for use can be returned to authorized Bosch service centers.
When transporting lithium-ion batteries, special requirements on packaging and labeling must be observed, especially for air transport or forwarding agencies. Batteries should only be dispatched if the housing is undamaged, and open contacts should be taped or masked off. The battery should be packed in a manner that prevents movement within the packaging.
