BOSS HD Equalizer Tilt System
RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Daily/Weekly
- Check that all buttons/toggles that operate your BOSS Equalizer HD Tilt System functions properly.
- Charge the batteries, if reqiured, as described in the Powerbase/Wheelchair Owners Manual.
- Clean the tilt system using a damp cloth with a mild soap. Ues a minimal amount of water.
- Inspect the joystick cable for wear, damage and that proper connections are made.
- Check the Posterior Barrior Flap is in place.
WARNING:
- Posterior Barrior Flap must be in place to prevent tissue owing through seat back gap causing skin
pinching and or tearing.
WARNING:
- For detailed information on charging your powerbase batteries, please be certain to read and carefully
follow the instructions provided in the Powerbase Owners Manual and Battery Charger Manufacturer.
Monthly
- Ensure batteries are clean (free from corrosion/dirt/moisture).
- Inspect the battery and motor connections for wear, damage, and that proper connections are made.
- Ensure Actuator Rod ends are secure and pinned properly.
- Ensure no sticking/interference during system operation (over full range of seating system)
- Inspect for excessive noise or grinding.
- Ensure all nuts and bolts are secure.
- Look the Power Wheelchair Base over in general making sure all the bolts and nuts are still tight.
Every 6 Months
- Inspect that all pivot points are operating smoothly, freely and are secured. (do not overtighten)
- Inspect all wheels for looseness and tire wear.
- Clean the upholstery as needed.
- Have the equipment inspected, adjusted and repaired as needed by your equipment provider.
The expense involved is always less than repair bills caused by a lack of proper maintenance. In the
same way a car would not last without service, a wheelchair should be maintained regulary.
Yearly
- Thoroughly examine your wheelchair to look for undetected wear and other potential problems and
have problems repaired immediately.
WARNING:
- If you ever notice any part of your tilt seating system or wheelchair base working in an improper or
unsafe manner, stop using it immediately and contact your dealer to arrange repairs. Do not use your
tilt/wheelchair if there is any possibility it is not safe!
