• Run engine(s) for 10 minutes.
• Shut OFF fuel valve. Allow engine to run until
it stops.
• Top o fuel tank, leaving space for
expansion. DO NOT ll to point of
overow.
• DO NOT cap the tank vent.
A partially full tank is not recommended because the
void space above the fuel allows air movement that
can bring in water through condensation as the air
temperature moves up and down. This condensation
could potentially become a problem.
• Make sure the battery
switch is turned “ON”.
Start Engine:
• Turn key to “Start”
position and hold until
engine starts.
Starting the Engine
!
CAUTION
NEVER start or operate your engines (even
momentarily) without water circulating
through all the cooling water intake holes in the
gearcase to prevent damage to the water pump
(running dry) or overheating of the engine.
• Operator should know boating safety, safe
navigation, and boat operating procedures.
• Make sure that the lower unit of the engine
is in the water.
• Be sure the emergency
engine shuto switch
(See gure 1.16.1) is in
the “RUN” position.
• Be sure gear shift and
throttle control levers
are in the NEUTRAL
position.
Prior to Starting
NOTICE
The gear shift/throttle control lever will not
allow engine starting if the control lever is in
any other position than NEUTRAL.
