Questions and Answers

Overview

The Braun MultiQuick 7 (Type 4199) is a versatile hand blender designed for various kitchen tasks, offering a blend of quality, functionality, and design. It is suitable for household use and processing normal household quantities of food.

Function Description

The MultiQuick 7 hand blender is primarily used for preparing dips, sauces, soups, mayonnaise, and baby food, as well as for mixing drinks and milkshakes. For optimal blending results, it is recommended to use the highest speed setting.

The whisk accessory is specifically designed for whipping cream, beating egg whites, making sponge cakes, and preparing ready-mix desserts.

The chopper accessories (9 and 10) are ideal for chopping hard cheese, onions, herbs, garlic, vegetables, bread, crackers, and nuts. The smaller "hc" chopper (9) is best for fine results and is not suitable for meat. The larger "bc" chopper (10) handles larger quantities and harder foods, and also offers additional applications like shakes, drinks, purées, batter, or crushed ice, including ice crushing with a special ice blade.

Usage Features

The appliance features a Smartspeed switch for variable speeds, allowing for one-handed operation. The more pressure applied to the switch, the higher the speed, resulting in faster and finer blending and chopping.

To switch on the appliance, a safety button (1) must first be pressed with the thumb, which turns the pilot light (2) solid green. Immediately after, the Smartspeed switch (3) should be pressed and adjusted to the desired speed. If the Smartspeed switch is not pressed within 2 seconds, the appliance will not turn on for safety reasons, and the pilot light will flash red, requiring the user to restart the process. During operation, the safety button does not need to be continuously pressed.

For blending with the shaft (6), it is attached to the motor part (4) until it clicks. The shaft is then placed into the mixture, and the appliance is switched on. Ingredients are blended to the desired consistency using a gentle up-and-down motion. When pureeing hot food in a saucepan, the liquid should not be boiling, and the food should be allowed to cool slightly to avoid scalding. The hand blender should not be left in a hot pan on the cooktop when not in use.

For whisking, the whisk (8b) is attached to the gearbox (8a), and the assembled whisk accessory is then clicked onto the motor part. To prevent splattering, it is recommended to start slowly and use the whisk attachment in deep containers or pans. The whisk should be placed in a bowl before switching on the appliance. For best results, the whisk should be moved clockwise at a slight incline. When whipping egg whites, ensure the whisk and mixing bowl are completely clean and free of fat, and whip a maximum of 4 egg whites. For whipped cream, start with low speed and gradually increase it.

For chopping, the blades (9b/10b/10c) are carefully placed on the center pin of the chopper bowl (9c/10d) and locked into place. Food is then added, and the lid (9a/10a) is secured. For ice crushing, up to 7 ice cubes can be placed in the "bc" chopper bowl with the special ice blade. The chopper is then aligned and clicked onto the motor part. During processing, the motor part is held with one hand and the chopper bowl with the other. Harder foods, such as parmesan cheese, should be chopped at full speed. Pre-cutting foods into small pieces is recommended for easier chopping. Bones, tendons, and gristle should be removed from meat to prevent damage to the blades. The anti-slip rubber ring (9d/10e) should be attached to the bottom of the chopper bowl.

The "hc" chopper should not exceed the maximum fill line for ingredients. Maximum operation time for the "hc" chopper is 1 minute for large amounts of wet ingredients and 30 seconds for dry or hard ingredients. An interval of at least 3 minutes should be observed between operations to prevent faults. Processing should be stopped immediately if motor speed decreases or strong vibrations occur. The chopper accessories (9/10) are not suitable for extremely hard foods like unshelled nuts, coffee beans, grains, or hard spices, as these can damage the blades. Only the "bc" chopper with the special ice blade is allowed for crushing ice cubes. The chopper bowl should never be placed in a microwave oven.

Maintenance Features

Before cleaning, the hand blender should always be unplugged. The motor part (4) and gearbox (8a) should not be immersed in water or any other liquid; they should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. The lid (10a) can be rinsed under running water but should not be immersed in water or placed in a dishwasher. All other parts can be cleaned in a dishwasher. Abrasive cleaners that could scratch the surface should not be used. The anti-slip rubber rings can be removed from the bottom of the bowls for a more thorough clean. If accessories become discolored from processing foods with high pigment content (e.g., carrots), they can be wiped with vegetable oil before cleaning.

All parts should be cleaned before first use and as required, following the instructions in the Care and Cleaning section.
