Overview

The Braun MultiQuick 9 Hand Blender, Type 4200, is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for a wide range of food preparation tasks. Its core function is blending, but with various attachments, it extends its capabilities to whisking, pureeing, chopping, grinding, and food processing, including slicing, shredding, julienning, and dicing. This appliance is engineered to meet high standards of quality, functionality, and design, making it suitable for household use and processing normal household quantities.

Usage Features:

The hand blender's primary control is the Smartspeed switch (3), which offers variable speeds based on how much pressure is applied – a gentle squeeze for lower speeds and more pressure for higher speeds. This allows for one-handed operation and precise control over blending and chopping results.

A Pilot light (1) indicates the appliance's status:

  • Flashing red: Appliance is ready for use.
  • Solid green: Appliance is released (safety button pressed) and can be switched on.
  • Solid orange: Early warning of overheating; motor slows down, then shuts off.
  • Solid red: Device needs to cool down for one hour before it can be used again.

To safely switch on the appliance, first press the safety button (2) with your thumb, which turns the pilot light solid green. Then, immediately press the Smartspeed switch to adjust to the desired speed. If the Smartspeed switch is not pressed within 2 seconds, the appliance will not switch on for safety reasons, and the pilot light will flash red. During operation, the safety button does not need to be continuously pressed.

ActiveBlade Shaft (6): This attachment is designed for blending and features a knife that extends to the bottom of the bell, automatically adjusting based on pressure. It's ideal for mixing hard foods like raw fruits and vegetables, as well as preparing dips, sauces, salad dressings, soups, baby food, drinks, smoothies, and milkshakes. For best results, the highest speed is recommended. When pureeing hot food in a saucepan, remove the pan from the heat and ensure the liquid is not boiling to avoid scalding. Avoid scratching the ActiveBlade shaft on the bottom of pans.

Whisk Accessory (8): Comprising a gearbox (8a) and whisk (8b), this accessory is used for whipping cream, beating egg whites, making sponge cakes, and ready-mix desserts. For optimal results, move the whisk clockwise with a slight incline, start slowly to prevent splattering, and use deep containers. Ensure the whisk and mixing bowl are completely clean and fat-free before whisking egg whites. Only whip up to 4 egg whites.

Puree Accessory (9): This accessory, with its gearbox (9a), puree shaft (9b), and paddle (9c), is used for mashing cooked vegetables and fruits such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, plums, and apples. Do not mash hard or uncooked food, as this can damage the unit. Peel and remove any stones or hard parts before mashing. Never use this accessory in a saucepan over direct heat; always remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Do not fill the saucepan or bowl more than half full.

350 ml Chopper Accessory «hc» (10): This attachment, including a lid (10a), chopping blade (10b), chopper bowl (10c), and anti-slip rubber ring (10d), is suitable for chopping hard cheese, onions, herbs, garlic, vegetables, bread, crackers, and nuts, especially for fine results. It is not recommended for meat. Do not exceed the maximum fill line. Maximum operation time is 1 minute for wet ingredients and 30 seconds for dry/hard ingredients, with a 3-minute interval between operations to prevent faults. Avoid processing extremely hard foods like unshelled nuts, ice cubes, coffee beans, grains, or nutmeg, as this can damage the blades. Never place the chopper bowl in the microwave oven.

Coffee and Spice Grinder Accessory (11): Consisting of a lid with coupling (11a), grinder knife (11b), bowl (11c), and anti-slip-base/lid (11d), this accessory is designed for grinding dry spices, pepper, cloves, chili, coffee, soya beans, rice, poppy seeds, sugar, dried sardines, and shrimps. For finest results, use the highest speed. Fill only up to the max. line. Allow spices to cool to room temperature before grinding. Not recommended for corn, walnuts, baking chocolate, rock candy, or hard cheese. Maximum operation time is 20 seconds. Never place the grinder bowl in the microwave oven.

2000 ml Food Processor Accessory with Dicer «fpl» (12): This comprehensive accessory includes a lid with gearbox (12a), coupling for motor part (12b), pusher (12c), feed tube (12d), lid latch (12e), splash guard (12f), food processor bowl (12g), anti-slip rubber ring (12h), chopping blade (12i), chopping blade cover (12j), dough tool (12k), kneading hook (12l), dicer blade (12m), dicer base (12n), and cleaning pusher (12o). It can be used for chopping, blending, mixing pancake batter (up to 500g flour), kneading dough, preparing cake batter, slicing, shredding, julienning, making French fries, and dicing.

  • Chopping (F): Uses the blade (12i) for meat, hard cheese, onions, herbs, garlic, vegetables, bread, crackers, and nuts. For heavier batters or doughs, use the dough tool or kneading hook instead of the knife.
  • Dough Tool and Kneading Hook (F): The dough tool (12k) and kneading hook (12l) are ideal for kneading and mixing different doughs (yeast, pastry) and sponge mixtures. Add liquids through the feed tube while the motor is running. Maximum kneading time is 1 minute, followed by a 10-minute cooling period for the motor.
  • Slicing / Shredding / Julienne / French Fry (G): Uses various inserts (fine/coarse slicing (i), fine/coarse shredding (ii), julienne (iii), French fry disc (12q)) with the insert holder (12p) and disc axle (12r) to process raw fruits and vegetables. Always use the pusher to feed food into the feed tube.
  • Dicing (H): Uses the Dicer (12m, 12n) to cut raw and cooked vegetables and fruits into small cubes for salads, soups, and desserts. Remove pips and stones from fruits. Frozen food is not allowed. Cooked food should be cooled before dicing for firmer results. Process different foods from softest to hardest without cleaning the grid in between. The Dicer is not suitable for raw meat. Peel vegetables with hard skins (like squash) before processing to prevent skins from getting caught.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Always clean the hand blender and all accessories thoroughly before first use and after every subsequent use with water and detergent. Unplug the hand blender before cleaning.
  • Motor Part (4) and Gearboxes (8a, 9a, 12a): Do not immerse in water or any other liquid. Clean with a damp cloth only.
  • Grinder Knife (11b): Ensure it is absolutely dry after cleaning to reuse.
  • Other Parts: All other parts can be cleaned in a dishwasher. Do not use abrasive cleaners that could scratch surfaces.
  • Anti-slip Rubber Rings (10d, 11d, 12h): These can be removed from the bottom of the bowls for an extra thorough clean.
  • Discoloration: When processing foods with high pigment content (e.g., carrots, curcuma), accessories may become discolored. Wipe these parts with vegetable oil before cleaning them.
  • Dicer Cleaning: Use the cleaning pusher (12o) from the bottom side of the Dicer Base (12n) to remove any leftover food. Using it from above could shave off plastic pieces.
