Overview

The Breville 360° Autosense Air Purifier (BAP009) is designed to improve indoor air quality by filtering airborne particles and reducing odors. It features a 360° air intake grille and a filtered air outlet vent, ensuring comprehensive air purification within a room.

Function Description:

The air purifier utilizes a multi-stage filtration system to clean the air. It incorporates two 3-in-1 True HEPA filters, which include a pre-filter, a True HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter. The pre-filter is designed to capture larger particles such as dust, hair, and pet dander, thereby extending the life and efficiency of the subsequent filters. The True HEPA filter is highly effective, removing up to 99.97% of airborne dust and pollen as small as 0.3 microns, and also helps to reduce smoke, mold spores, and pet dander. The activated carbon filter is specifically engineered to reduce and neutralize odors, vapors, and gases from various sources like cooking, smoke, chemicals, pets, and other undesirable scents.

In addition to its filtration capabilities, the BAP009 features an ionizer. This component releases negative ions into the outgoing filtered air, which aids in the air purification process. Ions are tiny particles with a positive or negative charge that naturally exist in the environment. The negative ions released by the purifier attach themselves to small airborne particles, causing them to take on a negative charge. These charged particles may then join with positively charged particles (such as dust, pollen, smoke, and pet dander) to form larger clusters, which are more easily captured by the filter system. It is normal for the ionizer to produce occasional popping or cracking sounds due to the discharge of accumulated ions. Over time, dust may accumulate around the grilles or panels, indicating the ionizer's effectiveness in cleaning the air. This dust can be easily removed with a soft brush or damp cloth. Excessive amounts of pet dander, dust, or smoke can reduce the lifespan of the filters and potentially interfere with the ionization process.

The device also integrates PM2.5 Autosense technology, which actively monitors indoor air quality by measuring particulate matter. It detects even slight changes in particle levels and provides real-time PM2.5 feedback. The air quality is indicated by a specific color on the display: Blue for "Good" (0-100 PM2.5), Yellow for "Moderate" (101-200 PM2.5), and Red for "Poor" (201-500 PM2.5). When operating in auto mode, the air purifier automatically adjusts its fan speed based on the detected air quality to maintain healthy levels.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate):
    • Smoke: 329 m³/h / 194 CFM
    • Dust: 339 m³/h / 200 CFM
    • Pollen: 343 m³/h / 202 CFM
  • Fan Speeds: 4 (Auto, Low, 2, 3, High)
  • Noise Level on High Speed: 55 dB max
  • Power Consumption: 42 W
  • Filter Type: Two 3-in-1 True HEPA filters (pre-filter, True HEPA filter, activated carbon filter)
  • Filter Lifespan: Up to 12 months, depending on usage.

Usage Features:

The control panel offers several intuitive features for operation:

  • On/Off Button: Turns the unit on or off.
  • Timer: Allows users to set an operating duration of 2, 4, or 8 hours. The unit automatically switches off once the set time elapses. The timer can be deactivated by repeatedly tapping the button until the lights turn off.
  • Fan Speed Settings: Adjusts the fan speed through Auto, 1 (Low), 2, 3, and 4 (High) modes. In Auto mode, the fan speed automatically adapts to the detected air quality.
  • Night Mode: Dims the display lights for comfortable sleep. In night mode, the unit maintains the previously selected fan speed setting.
  • Filter Replacement Indicator: Illuminates in red when it's time to replace the filter.

Getting Started and Filter Installation:

  1. Ensure the unit is unplugged and turned off.
  2. Pull the top part of the back panel cover towards you to release it.
  3. Remove the top True HEPA filter.
  4. The filter separation plate will spring up, allowing access to the lower filter. Rotate the plate upwards for better access.
  5. Remove the lower True HEPA filter.
  6. Remove any plastic packaging from the new filters.
  7. Insert the new True HEPA filters, placing the bottom filter first, then the top filter.
  8. Reattach the back panel cover by aligning and mounting it into the base, then pushing the top of the panel against the appliance.
  9. Plug in the unit and turn on the power.
  10. To reset the filter status after replacement, press and hold the night mode button for 3 seconds. The air purifier will beep once, and the filter replacement indicator light will flash and beep 3 times before turning off, indicating it's ready for use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Always turn off and unplug the unit before cleaning. The exterior surface can be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth. The top air outlet vent can be cleaned of dust with a small, soft brush. If cleaning the inside of the filter compartment, only a dry, soft cloth should be used.
  • Filter Replacement: It is recommended to replace the 3-in-1 True HEPA filters every 12 months, depending on usage. The filter replacement indicator light will signal when replacement is needed. Only original Breville filter model BAPF70 should be used.
