12.1 Safety Clothing
Approved safety glasses and safety shoes should be used at all times when
operating or in the vicinity of the machine.
Never wear loose clothing whilst operating the machine as loose clothing may
become entangled and you will be severely injured.
Never operate the machine with long hair as long hair may become entangled
and you will be severely injured, persons with long hair should use a hair net.
Use protective gloves when removing tools or cleaning swarf from the machine,
tools and swarf are very sharp and can cause severe injury.
Do not wear gloves when operating the machine control panel as these may
interfere with the operation of the controls.
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses when handling coolants or oils.
12.2 Release of trapped person
If a person is trapped as a result of a controlled axis movement, then the
person may be released by reversing the axis movement. If an emergency stop
button has been pressed then power will have been removed from the drives.
To restore power it will be necessary to release the emergency stop button,
press the “Power On” button on the operator panel, and clear the error message
on the control. Set the mode selection switch to manual, and the feed override
to a low value, and use an axis jog key or the electronic handwheel to move the
axis and release the person.
If the machine has been fitted with a workpiece clamping system, then the
operator should familiarise himself with the method of manually releasing the
clamp.
