Why is my Briel ES14 Coffee Maker espresso flowing too slowly?
    • N
      nfullerAug 18, 2025
If the espresso is flowing too slowly or not at all, it could be due to several reasons. A very fine grind may be the problem; try another coffee brand for espresso and adjust the grinder level to a coarser grind (between level 2 and 3). Also, there may be coffee remaining in the brew-head, so clean the brew-head. Another cause may be calcareous in the machine, in that case, descale the machine. If there is no water flow and the pump is abnormally noisy, check if the water tank is filled and correctly placed. Finally, insufficient pressure may be the problem, so verify pressure and replace the pump if needed.

What to do if the coffee flows over the sides of the filter holder on my Briel Coffee Maker?
    • C
      clinton30Aug 20, 2025
If coffee flows over the sides of the filter holder, it could be due to several reasons: * Too much coffee in the filter (more than 7 grams): Reduce the amount of coffee, using only one measuring spoon for each cup. * Coffee tamped too hard: Gently tamp the coffee. * Pod incorrectly placed: Center the pod in the filter. * Filter-holder incorrectly placed: Tighten the filter-holder. * Coffee remaining in the brew-head: Clean the brew-head. * Obstructed Cremaker filter or filter-holder: Clean and unscrew the screw in the Cremaker filter, replace the filter, clean the filter-holder, or replace the filter-holder.

Why does my Briel ES14 coffee taste burned?
    • C
      Charlotte PerezAug 23, 2025
If your coffee tastes burned, it could be due to several factors. You might be using a very fine grind; try another coffee brand for espresso and adjust the grinder level to a coarser grind (between level 2 and 3). Also, there might be too much coffee in the filter (more than 7 grams); use a smaller amount, about one measuring spoon for each cup. Tamping the coffee too hard or not evenly spreading the ground coffee in the filter can also cause a burned taste, so gently tamp the coffee. The temperature of the water may be too high, in that case, proceed as if you were about to prepare a coffee using no coffee and verify or replace the thermostat. Finally, the filter-holder might not be clean or is obstructed; verify and clean it, or replace it.

Why is my Briel ES14 not hot enough?
    • J
      Joseph JonesAug 26, 2025
If your coffee is not hot enough, it could be because the machine has not pre-heated for long enough. Verify the temperature lamp, place the filter-holder (without coffee) in the machine as it pre-heats so that the filter-holder also heats, and allow some water to flow through the filter-holder so that it can get warm. Another reason could be cold cups, so pre-heat the cups with the steam nozzle. Also low temperature water flows from the brew-head, in that case verify or replace the thermostat and resistance.

Why is my Briel ES14 producing coffee grounds in the cup?
    • C
      Cynthia BuckAug 28, 2025
If you're finding coffee grounds in your cup, it could be because you are using a very fine grind. Try another coffee brand for espresso and adjust the grinder level to a coarser grind (between level 2 and 3). It could also be due to coffee remaining in the filter-holder, so clean the filter-holder with tap water. Finally, the Cremaker filter might be damaged or have very large holes, so clean and tighten the screw of the filter, or replace the filter.

How to fix little or no creamy top from Briel ES14 Coffee Maker?
    • H
      Heather MurphyAug 30, 2025
If there is little or no creamy top, the cream is too bright or fine, or the coffee flows too rapidly, it could be due to several reasons: * The coffee may be stale: Always use freshly-ground coffee and keep it in the fridge. * Very coarse grind: Try a finer grind for espresso and adjust the grinder level to a finer grind (between level 2 and 3). * Coffee dose less than 7 grams: Increase the amount of coffee, using one measuring spoon for each cup. * Little pressure tamping the coffee: Tamp the coffee a bit more. * Cremaker filter is not well: Clean and tighten the screw of the filter, or replace the filter.

How to fix unpleasant taste of coffee from Briel ES14 Coffee Maker?
    • B
      Barbara LarsonSep 4, 2025
If the coffee has little or an unpleasant taste, the ground coffee may be stale or too acid, so try another brand and always use freshly-ground coffee and keep it in the fridge. Also, your tap water may be of bad quality or contain chloride, so use filtered water or bottled water.

What to do if water flows instead of coffee from my Briel Coffee Maker?
    • J
      Jaclyn PhelpsSep 7, 2025
If water flows instead of coffee, the pod may not be correctly placed; center the pod in the filter. Also, the filter may not be adequate for pods or not able to use pods; use the Cremaker filter for one dose (for pods or 1 cup ground coffee).

Why can't I froth the milk with my Briel ES14 Coffee Maker?
    • C
      carlos80Sep 9, 2025
If you cannot froth the milk, the nozzle may be obstructed, so clean the steam nozzle. You may be using an inadequate recipient; use a tall, narrow container, preferably metal. You may also be using inadequate milk; use cold whole milk, preferably low fat milk. Water may be flowing before steam, but this is a normal procedure; allow water to flow and place the recipient only as steam starts. There may be no steam; press the steam button (when applicable) until the temperature lamp lights. Finally, the boiler may not heat when you press the steam button; verify or replace the thermostat and resistance.
