Make sure you have enough fuel; if the engine is hot, let it cool before refilling. Open the fuel valve if it's closed, and if the engine is flooded, open the choke. Old gas can also be a culprit, so drain and replace it with fresh fuel. Clean any corrosion from the battery terminals, and recharge or replace the battery if it's discharged or dead. Finally, inspect the spark plug(s); clean and gap or replace them if necessary. Water in the fuel can also prevent starting, so drain the fuel and refill with fresh fuel.
