      If your Briggs & Stratton Portable Generator engine won't start or runs rough, possible causes include: * The rocker switch is set to “Off”: Set the switch to “On”. * The fuel valve is in the “Off” position: Turn the fuel valve to the “Open” position. * Dirty air cleaner: Clean or replace the air cleaner. * Out of fuel: Fill the fuel tank. * Stale fuel: Drain the fuel tank and carburetor and fill with fresh fuel. * Spark plug wire not connected: Connect the wire to the spark plug. * Bad spark plug: Replace the spark plug. * Water in fuel: Drain the gas tank and carburetor and fill with fresh fuel. * Flooded: Wait 5 minutes and re-crank the engine.
