      If the engine of your Briggs & Stratton Lawn Mower turns over but doesn't start, make sure the choke is in the CLOSED position if the engine is cold, or OPEN if it's warm. If the engine is flooded, set the choke to the OPEN position when cranking. Also, check if you are out of fuel and refill the tank after the engine cools. Old or stale fuel should be drained and replaced with fresh fuel. Lastly, inspect the spark plug(s) for any faults, fouling, or incorrect gapping; clean, gap, or replace them as needed.

Clean the battery terminals if they're dirty, and recharge or replace the battery if it's discharged or dead. Visually inspect the wiring for any loose or broken connections, and tighten or replace as necessary.

Reduce the ground speed and raise the cutting height, especially when cutting tall grass for the first pass. Clean the underside of the mower deck and cut grass with the discharge pointing toward the previously cut area.

      If your Briggs & Stratton Lawn Mower cut is rough looking, set the engine speed to FAST and decrease the ground speed. Sharpen or replace dull blades, and clean or replace the mower drive belt if it's slipping due to being oily or worn. Ensure the blades are properly fastened to the arbors.
