For Replacement Installation Instructions: Remove existing door lock, latch assembly, and strike plate and begin at Step 4. For New Installation Instructions: Begin at Step 1
Mark centerline on the door jamb exactly opposite the
latch hole.
Drill a 1" (25.4 mm) hole 1-1/8" (29 mm) deep in the
door jamb.
Apply the template to the door with the dotted fold line
on the door edge.
Mark the center for the latch hole on the door edge
according to the thickness of your door.
Mark the screw hole locations and drill two 1/8"
(3.2mm) pilot holes about 1" (25.4mm) deep.
Center the Strike Plate over the 1" hole and mark the
outline. Chisel about 3/32" (2.4mm) deep or until the
Strike Plate is ush with the door jamb.
Select the 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) backset
and mark the center for the hole for the deadbolt on
the door face. (Most residential doors have a 2-3/8"
backset.)
Mark the centerline for the deadbolt about 44"
(1120mm) from the oor, or about 5-1/2" (140mm)
above the center of an existing knob or lever.

Prepare Door Jamb for Strike Plate
Selecting the Proper Backset
Mark latch screw holes and drill two 1/8" (3 mm) pilot
holes for the (S1) Latch Screws.
Drill a 1" (25.4mm) hole in the door edge for the latch.
Drill a 2-1/8" (54mm) hole on the door face from both
sides to avoid wood splitting.
Insert latch in the hole. Mark the outline of the
faceplate and chisel about 1/8" (3mm) deep or until
faceplate is ush with door edge.

Backset is the distance from door edge to center of
hole on door face. (See Illustration) The latch can be
adjusted to t either a 2-3/8" (60 mm) or a 2-3/4 (70
mm) backset.

Latch backset adjustment only needs to be made if
your door needs a 2-3/4" (70 mm) backset.
Otherwise, NO ADJUSTMENT is necessary.
The latch is now set for the 2-3/4" (70 mm) backset
with the "2-3/4" indicated on the latch body as shown.
To adjust your latch to 2-3/4" (70 mm) backset, hold
the back of the latch, and twist the front of the latch
one half turn until it stops.

Marque la puerta con la plantilla

Prepare la jamba de la puerta para la placa de
contacto
Cómo seleccionar la distancia o “entrada” correcta
Marque la línea central en la jamba o marco de la puerta de
manera que quede exactamente opuesta al agujero de la
cerradura.
Perfore un agujero de 25.4 mm (1") a una profundidad de 29 mm
(1-1/8") en la jamba o marco de la puerta.
Marque las ubicaciones de los agujeros de los tornillos y perfore
dos agujeros piloto de 1/8" (3.2 mm) a una profundidad de
aproximadamente 1" (25.4 mm).
Centre la Placa hembra del cerrojo sobre el agujero de 25.4 mm
(1") y marque el contorno. Use el formón para rebajar la madera
hasta una profundidad de 2.4 mm (3/32") o hasta que la placa
hembra de cerrojo quede a ras con la jamba o marco de la puerta.
Marque la línea central de la cerradura de pestillo a una distancia
aproximada de 44" (1,120mm) del suelo, o a una distancia
aproximada de 5-1/2" (140mm) por encima del centro de la perilla
o la palanca existente.
Aplique la plantilla en la puerta con la línea punteada en el borde
de la puerta.
Marque el centro para el agujero del pestillo en el borde de la
puerta segúnel espesor de esta.
Seleccione la posición de 2-3/8" (60mm) o 2-3/4" (70mm) y
marque el centro para el agujero de la cerradura de pestillo en la
supercie de la puerta. (La mayoría de las puertas residenciales
se colocan a 2-3/8").

Perfore un agujero de 2-1/8" (54mm) en ambos lados de la puerta
para evitar grietas en la madera.
Perfore un agujero de 1" (25.4mm) en el borde de la puerta para
el pestillo.
Marque el sitio de los tornillos del cerrojo y perfore dos agujeros
piloto de 3 mm (1/8") para los Tornillos (S1) del cerrojo.
Inserte el pestillo en el agujero. Marque el contorno de la placa y
cincele a una profundidad aproximada de 1/8"(3mm) o hasta que
la placa quede alineada con el borde de la puerta.

La distancia del canto o borde de la puerta hasta el centro del
agujero en la cara de la puerta se le conoce algunas veces como
“entrada”. (Ver dibujo.) El cerrojo se puede ajustar para una
“entrada” de 2-3/8" (60 mm) o de 2-3/4" (70 mm).

Solamente necesita ajustar la distancia de borde del cerrojo si su
puerta necesita una distancia de borde de 2-3/4" (70 mm). De lo
contrario, no es necesario NINGÚN AJUSTE.
El cerrojo ahora está ajustado a una entrada de 2-3/4" (70 mm) y
el cuerpo del cerrojo indica "2-3/4", como se muestra en la
imagen.
Para ajustar su cerrojo a una entrada de 2-3/4" (70 mm), sostenga
la parte trasera del cerrojo y gire la parte delantera del cerrojo
media vuelta hasta que se detenga.
